Really? You're using examples of self-coaching from 40 years ago? That's 10 Olympics games ago, practically pre-modern. In fact, that's around the bird of of modern marathoning, and Joanie won the first but she wouldn't win now.Hall is another example of outright American stupidity. Frank Shorter and Joanie were both either entirely self-coached or mostly self-coached. So it has been done and to win gold medals.

What dumb thing has Webb done? Set the mile AR?

Verzbicas is competing in his better event (or at least giving it a try), rather than your favorite event to watch. Not dumb.

Seems you're confusing "dumb" with "injured"

Yeah, America was successful because the rest of the world hadn't caught up. Newsflash. It's caught up, so if you want to run with the best, train with best. That's just the way it works son.Webb has been bouncing around for years. Yeah, he got the AR, and what has he done since?And V. could have been at least as good as Webb, but instead he jerked around and wasted his talent in the triathalon? He's one of a handful of sub 4 high schoolers. He could have been somebody. Now he's nothing.
