This is dumb doesn't Derrick have a faster time on Detwiller than Lukas? So then we have seen someone with his XC credentials. Scratch that BETTER than his XC credentials

23:15 at Griak....23:15 at Griak...
Lalang is going to take an enormous dump on this field.

Ummm...Hate to be the one to break it to you but time on Detwiller is not the sole measure of one's entire HS XC career.
Did CD finish his HS career undefeated in XC? Fid he win Footlocker and NXN in the same year? Did he win Footlocker twice? Even once? Did he win all of these national title so easily that he could practically walk across the finish line without being even slightly out of breath?
Nice try. But you have utterly and miserably failed.
Oh, and by the way, even a HS underachiever like CD seemed to show pretty well at the big dance his freshman year.
Lalang is going to destroy the field. Derrick, Batty, Cabral, Verzbicas, Puskedra, Wisconsin guys...they’ll make up the next pack. My pick is Hasay over Reid, but Villanova wins the team title in a close one over Providence (but Providence gets 4 in the top 25 and two in the top 10)

I wish I had you in front of me to punch you square in the mouth - you, son, need to get off your high horse and come down to reality...

Sigh... Another day, another moron.
I don't know what you two are arguing about. I haven't followed high school running very closely in 3-4 years since the truth is no high school student can make an impact in college while in high school. Once they are in college yes they have a slight change to make an impact at NCAAs. But doesn't Chris Derrick have the 5k high school record and Lukas Verzbicas the 2 mile record in that professional race at Pre? They were both pretty amazing high school runners so who cares. Now they are in college and we can see if Verzbicas can beat Derrick's and German's freshman 5k time...

Ahmed is academically ineligible.
I really think Oregon will win the team title with Luke and Lukas going 1-2 for the men not sure about the Oregon womens chances other then Jordan Hasay wins or at worst takes second to Sheila Reid.
Neither did Diego Estrada.

No. He ran somewhere in the 13:50s. Rupp ran 13:37.

Now that was good....you got me real good...I wish you were here so I could really straighten you out...your day will come...

I think that Rupp's was both not in a high school meet (summer in Europe) and was past the high school window (graduated). Rupp got the junior record by about a week; the week that Withrow was born before January 1. Too bad Withrow had continual injury problems.
In addition, wasn't Derrick's run solo on a warm day (warm and muggy?)?

Unfortunately, the men of Oregon do not have a prayer of winning here. The 4/5 runners might score in the 100s in this field (Mac Fleet is not running XC), so even an unlikely L/L 1/2 finish (and I would be surprised if they beat Lalang and probably some others) would not yield a victory over a more balanced squad such as Indiana or Wisconsin (whose #5 guy beat all of the Oregon runners last meet and was much within himself in that race). As a number of people have said, Oregon is a year away from being very competitive on the National stage (e.g., podium places) and might be two years away from contending for first.

Derrick has the hs record for 5k with only other hs runners in the field, he ran solo at arcadia, rupp was in a pro race. I believe derrick has the #5 time overall but I might be making that part up
NCAA XC has gotten really, REALLY boring to follow anytime before nationals, as the big teams rarely run their top runners all at once until then.
Hopefully this will be an exception and we'll see some good racing.
Here’s the thing, just because Lukas accomplished all of those things IN HIGH SCHOOL doesn’t mean he’s going to be the best NCAA runner this season and go on to win an NCAA title either in XC or in track. You never know what will happen, running (along with other sports) is like one big mystery; you may be running great one day, but then the next day you’ll be running sh*tty or worse could suffer an injury and be done with the sport for good (Ritz even mentions this in his latest interview on Flotrack).
Ok sure he’s broken 4:00 in the mile, is he the clear cut favorite to win the indoor mile or outdoor 1500m title? Just because he’s gone low 14’s for an indoor 5k does that translate into him winning the 3k or 5k title for indoor/outdoor? No to all because again, just because you had an outstanding (arguably the best ever) high school career doesn’t mean Lukas will be the most dominant NCAA runner ever. Gotta wait and see instead of giving him the f*cking crown.
As for this meet I think Wisconsin has the most to prove/has the most pressure. Not only is it their home meet, but if they want to prove to everyone that they’re the best team behind Ok. St. and one of the favorites to stop their 3-peat at Nationals, I have strong feelings that they need to win this meet in order to set the tone to every NCAA team that “Hey, we’re the only team that can stop Ok. St. and none of you guys will come close to us.” kind of like a confidence booster/making a strong statement.

I doubt that Wisco will win this meet nor have the need to be the winner. Their coach has clearly stated several times this season that it's all about the (championship season) Conference meet and beyond. They have not won this meet in the past and I'm not expecting them to do anything different this year. They are experts at peaking for CC when it's most important. In saying this, I hope they win!
Go Bucky!
To all those saying Lukas has the best high school XC credentials since Ritz: consider that his time at Footlocker (14:59) was 24 seconds off the course record of 14:35 set way back in the day. It has been topped by numerous individuals since Ritz, and doesn't even stand in the top 20 all time. I know everyone will point to the fact that the finished the race easily, but can anyone really say he had 20 seconds left in him? Doubtful. His best XC time came at the Illinois state meet, and it definitely puts him in rarefied air for an incoming freshman, but not among the best all time. We put far too much weight on beating one's own contemporaries, and the truth is that the times Lukas ran in the process weren't super impressive. Also, people seem to forget that this year is incredibly stacked with talent, something previous super-stud frosh haven't necessarily had to deal with. I would look for Lukas to be more like top 15-20 at NCAAs, and potentially top 10 here. He's not a top 5 contender-just look at who else is out there.
