I relly like the fact that Symmonds is taking a stand against the IAAf and USATF. Both of the organizations are really hurting the sport, but i really don't think it is due to commercialism. I almost miss the days when amatureism went hand-in-hand with running. Even though amateurism was a bit extreme, Wes Santee made a good argument for that, but sponsers don't need to throw their logos everwhere in the sport. The USATF is the reason why there are no meet in the U.S.; the USATF is the reason why the sport is waning. Running shouldn't be about money nor should it be about sponsorships. Running should be taken for what it is and enjoyed by everyone. I love watching races, either on the track or road, and they won't dissapear. Symmonds needs to focus more on his running and racing, and less about how much effing money he isn't making.

How is the sport waning?
More people are competing in track and field and road races today than at any other time in history. So it's not waning participation-wise.
Records at post the pro, collegiate, high school, masters, and youth levels are constantly being broken. So it's not waning competition-wise.
And even though you don't like the money aspect, there is now more money in the sport today than ever before. So it's not waning financially.
So what's your beef?
Now that triathlon is an Olympic sport, why doesn't the IAAF rule apply equally to triathlons? Or to cycling events? Those guys are all walking billboards.
