Has Adam removed that Nike swoosh tattoo from his arm yet?

That's one of the saddest things I've read on here in a while. More than 2,000 square feet per family member?
My prediction is the Kara fails to make the U.S. marathon team at the '12 U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials. With just over 3 months to go, Kara leaves Alberto at the very worse time imaginable (for her). I can foresee her trying a different place, different marathon workouts, different schedules, different foods, different coaching, different tapering, different marathon fuel plans, and failing miserably. At her age, at this time, wrong, wrong, wrong!!!!
But, I hope she proves me wrong.
She's always got the 5k/10k as fallbacks. Not that she would medal in either one, but it's better to go and run 11th than not go at all.
And everyone is predicting failure already. Reminds me of that Ryan Hall guy...
To me, wherever she ends up, she already got a lot easier to cheer for...but what can I say, I'm a sucker for an under-dog. I've always been a bit irritated by Salazar and his budget and mad scientist approach. In a perfect world, Adidas and Mr. Dick Beardsley would announce a new marathon group where they train in the middle of the rural mid-west, work a farm and punch their legs 1000 times a day to "toughen them up for downhills" and smack the crap out of Salazar's group.
That's never going to happen is it?
Probably not going to happen, but it's funny to imagine Dickie beating the piss out of...well, anyone...to toughen them up. Smiling the whole time.

Man, what a dream! That would be f'ing awesome. I would send that group money.
it's like Logan's Run in the Oregon Project - get a little old, a little complicated and you are disappeared
If I were Kara I would contact Frank Shorter. He lives in Boulder and who better than a double Olympic Marathon medalist.

Maybe she can get a place with one of those Japanese teams. They seem to have dozens of good marathon coaches.
The Japanese don't coach westerners. No exceptions.

Jeff Schiebler would probably disagree, as would all the Africans who I assume you don't consider "westerners."

It would have to be New Balance, not Adidas.

I'm pretty sure that Waldemar Cierpinski lives in Germany and wouldn't coach Kara. Maybe she can train with Shorter and get another silver for him.

It would have to be New Balance. That's who Dick's been with forever.
Kara is getting a new coach, this is settled.
But are you guys sure the Gouchers are moving to Colorado?
Does this mean we will get no more Workout Wednesday videos on Flotrack?
She should have left Alberto's Army when she did this "workout/race" a few weeks before Boston and 5 days after a half marathon. A 20 mile run with him riding up your a$$ in 1:49.04 was the race, and surprisingly she didn't win Boston! Would any other coach have gotten their athlete to do a 20 Miler at sub 5:30 pace on the road and in racing flats that close to a marathon... Or ever? For someone who won New York and Boston, he seems to have no clue about marathon training.
If she is leaving Alberto's Army because she doesn't have faith in the training, maybe her and Adam should work it out themselves and do some training that they believe in. Take some responsibility and work it out yourselves instead of blaming someone else when you can't win Boston.

hehehe
I ran a hard 21 miler 3 weeks before my fastest marathon, which was on quite a difficult course and turned out to be 95 degrees at the finish. I didn't usually run that far that fast prior to a marathon, and nearly got sick in the couple of hours afterwards. However I'm convinced it helped me to run well in the race and, in retrospect, I should have done it more often.
