rupp's obviously had the far better career to this point, but centro did one thing that rupp may never be able to do, short of the marathon, and there is surely more to come from centro in terms of times and championships. rupp's American record in the 10000m is pretty damn strong. honestly, did rupp really have that big of an advantage over centro in high school? rupp's coach was an American great from the 1970s/1980s, while centro's coach was an American great from the 1970s/1980s. rupp was coached by Salazar from around 9th grade, while centro was coached by Centro from day one. it will be exciting to watch centro develop and he has the kick that rupp will never have. compared to the world elite at their distances, centro is better right now and may very well get gold in the future, so don't take this as a knock at all. he just has not been there that long and has yet to run a great time; moreover, he has not thrown down a professional level time in any event other than the fifteen YET. maybe he'll do something at 800 and 3k next year.
