It was clear to see on TV that he only SIMULATED drinking it. In fact, his mouth never touched the glass. Why is beyond me since it's non-alcoholic beer, but maybe the up to 0.5% that non-alc beer can contain scared him.
So, please, take it down. If you want to show a beer on the front page show Kiplagat who actually drank quite a bit of hers.

Yes. To his defense, he wasn't given a choice. Erdinger is a sponsor so the winner gets the beer. But instead of just leaving it alone or drinking it, he faked it. Looked really really lame.

He wouldn't have caused his own demise. Highly doubtful if he was murdered, but even if he was, it would have been brought about by his drunken escapades. Some people can handle the alcohol some can't. If there's even one person out there for young Kenyans to emulate, by saying you don't have to drink, that's a good thing.

Apparently, Nutella is either still in college or hasn't grown out of that college-era way of imagining that getting drunk is a huge accomplishment that needs to be bragged about far and wide. He probably has a pyramid of empty beer cans in his bedroom. You know the type. It doesn't bother him that Makau is 100 times the athlete he is. It bothers him that Makau inadvertently stepped on his turf by holding a beer can. Makau isn't a man to Nutella.
The sponsors ... you know, the ones who pay to support the sport ... had him take the picture. The Brothers Johnson also want to support the sport so they put up a picture of an athlete that also showed the sponsor.

I hated it when I was given Erdinger-Beer at some local 5k -- and was photographed with it. I think there are no pics of me with beer since about what you would call high-school-times. Never thought my running would produce one!
On a similar note, I once saw the interview after an MMA fight where the winner pretended to drink the energy drink that was one of his sponsors. It was in a can that hadn't been opened, and during the interview he would turn the can upside down even. That was really lame. Either just hold the thing there for all to see, or open it and drink some, but don't pretend to drink an unopened can.

Wouldn't this be the perfect way for an athlete (or anybody) that did not endorse or use such a product to play the game.
Doing this says: I don't drink this shit, but I am obligated by this sponsor to act half-assedly like I do, so this is me pretending and not caring if it is obvious that I am not actually consuming this swill.
