who cares?? my nephew Galen would run that time with 1 leg!!

Pathetic time. The top marathoners in the world SPLIT each half faster than that. Goucher has no chance in the trials. None.
EVERYONE slows from 10k to 10 miles at Philly presmustache, that is the course. That was a perfectly even paced effort from Goucher.
Houston - JAN 2012
Curtis
Hall
Goucher
Having barely gotten through 12 miles at marathon pace this morning, I'm certainly not going to mock a sub-65 half.
Adam is a hard worker, worked through a lot of bad luck, and has stayed classy as his wife has run well at the world level. He's made some mistakes with training (which he readily concedes), but given that he's been out of the (Letsrun) limelight for some time, the fact that he's going to be in Houston in January is pretty cool. A great day for the old guard. I think the odds are against him to make the top three, but I certainly hope he runs well.
Props.

I don't see how anyone could possibly think this is a good result. It's a horrible time -- especially for someone with his credentials.
F*ck off. Just because you ran a fast half one time 30 years ago doesn't make you qualified to sh*t all over everyone else who doesn't run as fast. Goucher is a far better runner than you ever were, so shove it. All he had to do today was qualify for the trials, and that's exactly what he did.
c fred joslyn gyeah reppin the div 3 and beating an olympian in the process woot woot
Pretty sure that's a big half marathon PR for C Joslyn, though he already had the trials marathon qualifier. He's doing really well under Aris.
Rupp's NYC half wasn't on a record eligible course, which probably explains why it's not on the list posted above. There was considerable debate on the board about how much his time was aided. Given the year he and Mo have had, apparently less than some thought.
Didn't Rupp run 1:00:28, not 1:01:28?

"You're" the idiot. It helps to understand the English language.
That wasn't a bash on Curtis, it was a bash on Trialswatcher, aka King99 who is a Rupp basher and would always tout Curtis over him. Curtis is awesome, love the guy, that had no bearing on my comment.

that would be great if his objective was to there and "run a perfectly even paced effort".
he said he wanted to "be competitive", and "run a PR".
i could see starting out conservative(65min pace), then picking it up after 10k(be competitive), but instead, he slowed down and got beat by a lot of guys he shouldn't have.
not a lot of positives from BARELY eeking out a OTQ.
Way to go Adam!
Maybe he wasn't feeling the greatest, all I know is looking at those splits for that course that is a steady, even effort.

Have you ran that course? Do you know what it's like? All he had to do today was hit the OTQ and he did it with an even effort, so shut up.
If he was training to win this race then i would say he had a terrible day. But he is training to qualify for the Olympics, all he needed to do was get under 65 and he did that. Maybe he had an off day or he has been doing more marathon work. Remember when Hall ran Boston at a faster pace than his previous half. Im not saying that he is going to qualify just that one race does not determine the rest of the year. He's never really run these kinds of races before so we/dont even know his full potential.

so they go out 1:06 or so and then slightly faster on the 2nd half will get a spot..
Hall
Ritz
who else if someone like Rupp doesn't get on the line to take a shot
Curtis/Meb/Goucher/Gotcher or some other long shot
Adam's chances aren't that bad and if Ritz is still hurt then really outside of Hall who else is a lock?
Rumor is Khalid is going to run Fukuoka at training run-level effort to get the OT qualifying standard, then will be lining up in Houston to race for real. Don't count the national record holder out yet!

i was wondering if anybody actually still recognizes KK as the record holder.

I bet if Goucher runs a marathon in the next six months, it will be New York.
