I saw Seeger churning away in Central Park the other day. I think he's a little too heavy from eating at all those posh NYC restaurants courtesy of his Kellogg's expense account, so 4:00 minutes might be pushing it.

I wish him well but this former 800m stud is the biggest sell-out since Jojo and Tommy cameo-ed in Something About Mary.

He use to be able to do 18 milers in Boulder and run 4 flat.

Why can't he do it again.

He's not at ground zero anymore.

Actually Seeger seemed to have a fair bit of trouble on those Boulder long runs but he had major wheels. Ran a 4:04 mile indoors at Balch Fieldhouse in Boulder in 1999 on a s***** track. Then goes out and gets dusted on a long run at 6:30 pace. He's definitely a middle-distance guy. I wouldn't be surprised if he pulled a 1:53 800-m time trial out of his pocket, but I doubt he'd go much under 33:30-34:00 for 10K in Central Park.

I heard Seeger is part of the upstart training group, the Central Park All-Stars? Along with a few other old timers.

Seeger cold never dunk a basketball. He sure cold run fast a Penn Relays in the day. I hope he makes it back to the top again in his comeback. How old is he? 32 or so. He still has a few good years.

Yup its true.....Seeger definately ran 10*400m in 55 seconds in Central Park(........only problem is the 400m's were measured by Jimmy Lynch)

By the way - am I the only one who sees getting a well paid job in New York City and "moving on" from running after a serious injury as ....well........common sense - not selling out? Call me a corporate junkie if you will

Hey One Keg, you need to put down the crack pipe. I was in that Mile in Balch, and Seeg ran 4:18 getting worked over the last 200. Maybe that's a sea-level 4:04 using the Eric Mack conversion tables.

Seeger or one of his pals said he ran 4:04. It might have been at a later-that-season indoor meet at Boston or somewhere. That does seem too hot for Balch so my bad.

Mike Seeger is running again. I ran with him (and one other runner out of the public eye for a while who may well storm back into the game) in Central Park 2 days ago. And ata pretty decent clip too - -in fact relative to the three guys trying to get back into shape it was a darn good clip -- on a cold rainy windy night that had the park just about empty except for the hard-core types. And he still pals around with at least one of his old Colorado buddies who visited the city recently.

When did Eric Mack run 4:04 in Balch? That is screaming! Was that this year? I thought he was hurt training for marathons.

As for Mack he did run 8 flat for 3k at U WY. around 7500 feet.

Nothing planned, just accidentally came across MS and the "other guy" whom I have elected not to name, running in the other direction. Had tentative plans to meet up Wed but I didnlt finish work until abt the time the other guys would have finished. MS

As for me, thanks for the kind words, but I'm out of the marathon game. Even Gordie Howe stepped down eventually. This year I watched Boston, potato chips, cookies, and coffee in hand, from Hereford St. Same in NYC, minus the chips and cookies.

He has run 3:48 for 1500 at 5200 ft and has run 3:47 at sea level.

4:04 in Balch? No, but he would have been close in college.

His 2:12 in Chicago a couple years ago?

If that race had been in Denver he would have won it in 2:13.

(but then on his athletic resume he would list his PR as a "converted" 2:06)
