He'll prob open in Oct for Oregon. Maybe a 24 flat in his opener would be a good start. Wonder if the Tri training will cease once the season starts
That was his last triathlon for awhile. GO DUCKS!!
I'm surprised more people aren't mentioning Vladimir Kosteltsev, ran a nice 10:37 split for 5k, 2 minutes under the world record not too shabby for the last leg of a triathlon

Hopefully you said that in jest. But if you hadn't said it there wouldn't be any doubt.

He was bronze medalist in the meet last year. A nice tribute by one friend to another

fixed this for you and your cold black heart.
I'm just going to call him Midas from now on. Everything he touches...
Well he took his sweet time getting off the bike. He wasted 9:15 to switch from biking to running gear lol.
how many kids can afford to do triathlons in high school. lukas ran with no competition and as soon as he gets here to ncaa's me and a lot of others are going to make a fool out of him in the 10k.
Looks like Lukas should've chosen CU-CO Springs, where, as far as I know, they are the only school offering full-ride scholarships for triathletes to help develop the sport. He could still have a running season, it's one of the best areas to train, and the Olympic Training Center is right there.

almost!
He won by 33 seconds, which is HUGE at that distance. He didn't HAVE to have the fastest run split.

You obviously have a hard time with reading and comprehension.
He and his parents considered that; and he decided to follow his dream to run for Oregon.
Ever follow a dream?
--Guess not.
I think his parents have coached and advised him pretty well so far.
Before you use the word "should've," let the kid have his own life, for, say, 4 years or so.

It only took him 35 seconds..
I doubt he was exerting himself much on the run. Looking at where some guys I know finished behind him (less than 1 minute overall), this doesn't look like a super competitive event.

Tell us a little bit about your high school career then.
Consider that LV has a history of stating goals and making them all. Never lost an XC race. Broke the indoor 5000 record twice. Broke the two mile. Ran sub 4. Won gold at JR worlds.
The only thing I see is a guy with supreme talent and a drive to make it happen, and lots of jealous guys.

I've never read that he had considered it or that Oregon was his "dream" school, even if it was posted on this thread. What does his parents' advising have to do with any of this, and either way, he's going to have his own life? I've followed more than one dream and have a pretty dream life, other than my health, so I don't know why you got your panties in such a wad over a trivial suggestion that just might make the most sense. I hope the kid succeeds no matter what he decides over the long haul.
He continues to follow a path that he started several years ago when he was only about 15 and decided that he would do it his own way in running, even when his own way involved training for a triathalon.
Regardless of his future results, he has set a very high bar for future HS runners to set their own path.
