Is anyone saying it is? Pointing out that pacing was not ideal is not an insult.
I think the pace was a bit fast, but it was pretty even on the first 3 laps.
The video is up on Youtube now, and despite terrible camerawork and strange angles, I managed to make out the following splits: -
54.9, 1:49.91, 2:46.61 - which are laps of 54.9, 55.0, 56.7, then a final 300m of 43.85.
It's actually nearer 1:50 for 800m, and he received pretty good (if not perfect) pacing for those first 2 laps. It's certainly a walk in the park compared to Ramzi's (52.5, 1:49.5) and Coe's (52.4, 1:49.1) first 2 laps in their respective runs.
Although the camera doesn't show them going through the 300, 700, 1100m mark, I've managed to work out a rough time by looking at their relative speed on each lap and using it with times given at points nearby.
I get a 700m time for Kiprop of 1:36.0, a 1000m time of 2:18.0 and a 1100m of 2:32.0. So again, he was pretty even with his pace (despite it being a bit too ambitious)
He really hits the wall over the last lap though, with his last 4 100m being: -
2:32.0, ....14.6 (2:46.6), 14.2 (3:00.8), 15.0 (3:15.8) and 14.7
