Brett does know me, and we have met in person at least 2 times. Yes I would like to meet him in person again.
666 Energy Drink is alive and well.
My issues with Mr. Larner come from several things:
(1) His promise to send me a DVD recording of the 2006 Tokyo Marathon, which is used as a rather fast training run (10 miles in 48:24). There is nothing I hate more than people making promises and not keeping them.
(2) Donating 2000 yen to his site in 2009, without even a "Thank you" in return. He knows my email address.
(3) The utterly ridiculous and mean-spirited post on his blog after the Tenmaya team just won the National Championships last December I have an excellent rapport with this team from my days of living in Okayama. In his post, he claimed that 2 of the runners on this team would have terrible marathon careers even though neither of them had yet run a marathon. Both of them had just run the race of their careers to help their team win the championship. There is nothing more mean-spirited than basically wishing for the failure of some extremely hard working and talented runners.
(4) His claims that I posted "sexual" comments about Japanese runners on his blog. This is not true at all. He wisely deleted this claim from his blog. Like Brett, I do follow the careers of Japanese runners in general, and I have trained with some of the most famous Japanese runners, both men and women. My interest in them, however, is purely as athletes.
That's all I have to say on this matter.
