About me:
I'm a recent grad of a a fairly big d1 college, which I managed to secure a 3rd/4th place finish (on my team) consistently. I graduated in 2007, and have been consistently training 115-135mpw since then (except for a 6 week stint in which I suffered from a tendonitis problem, it's gone now). My 29:06 was only a year out of college and, yes, it WAS on an xc course. A few months after that race I decided to give running a full shot; and forgo - or at least stall - my attempt to be an Actuary. I was an Associate, fyi, if anyone knows anything about that field.
Anyways, I moved down to Colorado from Minnesota with my training partner (this was especially easy after my girlfriend decided she needed a 'break from me' - something about emotionally unavailable at times....etc)
So, fast forward a year of shitty racing, and I pulled out a 1:47.mid (my previous pr was 1:50.7) at a big meet during my Spring season. I was in shock and wondered if I could replicate that performance. The race went so smooth, I felt great, it felt like i could have gone faster, though i tied for 2nd, but the guy officially beat me.
That was in 2008/'09. I've only managed to race about a 1:48.6 since then, though I was mainly focused on the 3km/5km, which i posted a best time by 36 seconds (in the 5km). Now I've got fairly fast pr's, current ones stated in the title, but having difficulty getting picked up by anyone. I emailed a few different places (the big names: nike...etc) and was put on the old "we'll see" route.
Now, time and money have forced my hands. my training is maxed out, I'm getting low on money and my apartment will be up on it's lease this Oct, and I need to make a decision. It's difficult because I feel like I've burnt out a bit last season (ran one 10km in 29:48, it was on the road), and I feel like i'm just rolling backwards down a hill. I've been training hard but just stopped seeing the results, and I'm not good enough to land a deal to keep me from running.
one final note: i moved back to minnesota and that's where i'm currently training. I only ask for advice from people who've been in a similar situation and can offer me advice, please no trolling/you really aren't that good/more trolling/tl;dr's..etc
Thanks
