I guess we can all conveniently forget all the interviews where any loss he has is down to a) not doing enough speedwork b) being injured c) act of God. If you don't believe me go find some earlier interviews of his - especially when our own Russell Brown waxed him in an indoor mile earlier this year.

The difference is that in this case he got it handed to him so badly when he was in form that he really has no comeback.

When people underperform they try to understand the reason and correct the problem. Giving a possible reason for a problem isn't making excuses.

Would it make you happier when people underperform if they always said "there is no rational explanation for it"? Or should they say "no comment" every time someone asks them why they had a bad race? Personally, I'd rather hear what people are thinking.

Anyway, Nick Willis is indeed a great guy and I was sorry to see him struggle in Daegu.
