It's true about the running economy I think. But really Meb's a very smooth runner. Geb certainly has a much more powerful stride though. A lot of those Ethiopians don't look as smooth as the Kenyans but they seem to be able to produce more power without wearing out.
I think a similar thing can be said about Meb and Geb. Meb's very smooth but Geb can drive hard and not tire somehow. I've heard somewhere that his VO2Max is not actually much higher if any than most other elites. It has more to do with how much energy he needs to run 5k pace compared to say other elites. Which is confusing. I have to admit it's still a mystery to me somewhat.
Meb isn't even an American.
