WHAT? :(((
WHAT? :(((
Watch this perspective from the 12:30 mark of the 5K on. Right at the beginning of the last lap. Put it on slow motion.
I'm counting eleven steps by Merga on the infield side of the line (off-track).
Someone needs to thump this guy just once. Punk.

Agreed. He's such a dick. Glad he was finally DQ'd.
Did he trip Longosiwa too? He went down with like 600m to go but got up and finished 7th (maybe Rupp and Solinsky could learn from him). And Merga almost screwed over Lagat at the end pushing him out into lane 4.
Glad to see Gebremeskel on the podium too, that guy's a beast. Remember that indoor 3000m where he lost his shoe? He's been racing strong since then.
It's not cheating if they don't catch you. Unfortunately for him he got caught. He went on the infield to avoid bumps in that tight pack. Bumping is part of the race, it happens, if you don't want it to happen, then push the pace and string out the field. Stop bitching about bumping, it happens, it's not dirty, if there is contact you have to hold your ground.

Pushing/heaving competitors out of your way in a dead sprint because you did't execute proper racing tactics (and are boxed because of it) is not bumping.
Merga got DQ'ed just like he should've been. If not for the final push by Merga, Lagat and Farah would've come down to a lean at the finish line.
The verbage in the IAAF rulebook on race interference is necessarily vague to give officials leeway as to when to call a foul. They called it properly here.

Or run on the infield, right?

Ughh. Go home.
What is even worse is when he came out of the bushes at the 300m of the men's 400 relay and threw a rolling block at the U.S. runner. That was over the top.

Finally........ha, this guy got what he deserved! He has been doing this kind of crap all year long and it's finally come back to him! Karmic justice...Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He's also the one who stated the pushing and shoving with Solinsky in Monaco and caused him to run off the track and ruin his race! About time this
sac-o-shite got done for his bullcrap antics! He was grabbing and knocking Lagat and and least three others during the race. I'm soooooooo glad they dropped the hammer on this fool! He needs to grow up and chill out or get the hell off the track for good!

Merga has been pushing people out of his way all season and that's exactlly what he tried to do again. He tried to force his way past the Kenyan in front of him (Kipchoge I think), nearly knocking him into Lagat. When that still didn't create enough room he simply cut around inside the rail.
Haha. Good for Kipchoge!!! One of my favorite runners.
I'm glad to see Merga get (part of) what he has deserved.

He set a NR for the half marathon and ran 13:11 this year so I don't think welfare is warranted.
....get behind me Hotdog...
This is the greatest DQ in the history of the sport, probably any sport.
about time. he has gotten away with this all season
Bottom line: he spoils races by getting into bad position and pushing his way out. Rupp and his countryman went around and burned energy. Merga just goes through people. There is nothing inadvertent about it. DL should not invite him any more.
I wonder if Renato C. Is proud of his antics.
Dirty merga

The dude got 14th in the WORLD, if you don't get paid to be the 14th best person in the world at what you do who should get paid? We al certainly saw his adidas logos more than we did other US athletes sponsors who didn't even bother to show up to the championships and probably make far more money that he does.
