Watched the replay and Centro was definitely eighth with one lap to go. Amazing last lap.

I saw Pre. Pre was no Pre.
Average on the world stage and more important to Americans than anyone else. Not anywhere near the pantheon of runners.
God you're an idiot. Don't worry though, we totally think you're cool for saying that Pre sucked.
there is no american result at the worlds that can't devolve into petty name calling and arguing. so sad.
anyone else want to hate on Centro for only getting a bronze? I hope not. what a great run. really awesome last lap, but how about praising his poise on the other laps for holding position and remaining calm? excellent! Congrats to him, a real champion.
I couldn't figure out why they put a video as the hadliner...And why is everybody so high on praise for a guy whose tactics resulted in LOSING the race? Shouldn't the discussion center around finally congrat to Kiprop for perfect tactics and how US Distance runners should try to emulate them?

You're not very smart.
Centro, on the other hand, ran smart and hard and exceeded everyone's expectations. Very happy for him.

Because you are a facking poor sport hater.
Life with that in your sad world.

Again, lets not think of him losing gold or silver, and congratulate him for winning bronze instead. And are you telling a 3:34 guy to stay with Kiprop for the whole last lap where they blasted the penultimate 200 and potentially leave him with nothing for the last 200? That doesn't sound too smart.
Listening to his post-race interview only confirms what some of us expected. Centro has figured out this race and he knew exactly what to do, or not do, when Kiplagat blew it out with 350 meters to go. Keeping his cool at that point was the most significant strategy and resulted in his ability to pick off 4 or 5 international level runners over the final 150 meters. This young man is savvy and well-schooled to be sure. Congrats to Centro and everyone who has supported him in his young career.
BADASS!!!

I never said he sucked. I said he was average on the world stage. He would have been in the upper decile in my old club team. But then I had Ron Clarke and Rob DeCastella among others.
I saw him rce in 1972 and he got his ass kicked, but I did enjoy the way he raced. He is more immportant to you americans than the rest. Americans are anal, and he wasn't and he died too young, so who knows what he would have done?
Centro ran a great race. You don't see too many do that now a days as they tend to race as little as possible.
Pre - Meh
Very impressive. I met matt on a recruiting vist to AU back in 1994. This makes me feel old. He looked in control through out the rounds. That's amazing for someone his age and level (or lack of) exprience. It will be interesting to see how much his pr comes down. He could never lower his pr and still remain a factor in championship meets for a long time with his poise and finishing speed. Congratulations!
Here is the bottom line: He Gained a Ton of experience on the international level in a short period of time, he can run with ANYONE in the world in a TATICAL RACE, his closing speed is BEASTLY and he knows how to relax and have fun with this sport. Thus, if he carries this ATTITUDE, throughout his CAREER he will be a CHAMPION!!!
This should be a lesson to many of the North American runners who don't race enough. YOU CAN RACE A LOT IF YOU DO IT PROPERLY. Train through early races, don't lose your endurance. Don't worry so much about getting speed early ( this is a big one). you can maintain speed through the year.
vin and Centro proved this. Are you listening Shumaker?
Race is up at Universal Sports:

And the Africans who race their balls off all year and still kick the Americans' asses come WC/Olympic time support this idea too.
Go Centro! 2 months ago he was considered the weakest link on the USA 1500 team...
In the slo-motion video of the last 100m, you can see Gebremedhin with a classic "WTF!" look as Centro goes by!
Not Vin. Andy.
Let me see; Silver for Ashton Eaton. Gold for Baker in the 4x400 and gold for Berry in the mens 4x400. Just this championship alone.
Before the WCs I thought no way would Centro have a chance. Long NCAA season and some slow times. Thought USAs were a fluke. Ran great rounds and BOOM. Believe it. Great run for the Bronze!

Well, let's say it is both.
Vin tabbed Andy as a coached, and I am sure Andy, you know, uses a lot of Vin's system.
