not that it matters... wrote:
Semenya just won the silver medal... she did not need any compassion. Montano just missed out on the bronze by a few tenths of a second, she was devastated. CS tried to barge in when Vessey was consoling Montano. It was an inappropriate move by CS.
Montano was 3rd woman and deserves the bronze medal.

I like to see good performances. I hope she lays the hammer down. It's not like she's smashing the WR or anything, so I think it's probably fair.
CSfan is this your mother or sister?

I don't exactly understand measures of "testosterone", but if there is a standardized measure, couldn't the IAAF proclaim a bright line number and assign adult humans to one of 2 categories?
High-T and Low-T
High-T women compete with the high-T men
Low-T men compete with the low-T women
Or maybe 3 categories--low, medium, and high!
And totally gender-unspecific.
And if you had 3 categories, you could adjust it so that the upper one was open-ended, and you wouldn't have to test for male hormone/roid supplementation anymore.
And, athletes could move up or down, depending on where they wanted to compete.
I think it would work--you wouldn't all of a sudden have many guys competing with the girls, as that wouldn't be cool--and plus, given the same T, even if they did they would probably only be competitive.
I don't know if this would even out distance races, but for power/sprints/throws/jumps it seems to make sense.

People who have no issue with her competing in the women’s division generally want to expand the women’s division to the intersex and women’s division.
Personally I see the purpose of having a women’s division is to be restrictive to have like bodied people compete with each other. Just like a weight division in boxing or wrestling.
The women’s division is a proxy for a xx division. Or maybe include some XY athletes that do not have higher levels than normal of testosterone. That way like bodied compete with each other.
I have no problem calling her a woman. Still IMO she does not fit the eligibility of what we now call the women’s division fitting the intended purpose of the restricted division.
She should compete in the open division.
