imagine how good he could be if he just lost some damn weight
If he tried those shenanigans in the NFL, I would have fined his boney butt!
There is no place in sport for joy and celebration.
dang i thought i needed to put on weight apparently not
Thanks for the automatically starting ads with sound, Brojos.
That's because Americans are so fixed on this mythical sense of sportsmanship that shouldn't ever exist.
He didn't run backwards down the lanes giving the other runners the finger and prancing around. He didn't wait at the finish line and taunt everyone that came in one by one, he didn't once insult any of the other runners that failed to show up once he threw down the hammer.
He smashed the field, glided out to lane 7 and celebrated.
Only in America, a country that has NOBODY worth mentioning in the steeplechase would all the track and field fans get together and cry about someone celebrating their own accomplishments in winning a race.
Kemboi is a pretty humble man, who won a pretty big race and danced around a bit, Bolt took his shirt off in a DQ situation, where the hell were you when that happened?
Its sad that scoring a touchdown and celebrating off-field away from the play is illegal, even for the sideline and coaching staff, how is it any fault of the better player that you get all hurt feelings from getting scored on? The mental aspect is part of the game too and if anything, hitting a player celebrating because he is better than you should net you a permanent ban and you should be charged for assault.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but not once did I condone Bolt for taking his shirt off or his celebration antics. I said, I have never seen anyone take their shirt off and celebrate like that. IN PERSON. Yes, I saw Bolt take his shirt off and whining around the track...ok....you're point...I think it's ridiculous he did that as well. You don't see other people getting dq'd and prancing around like a little biotch...Kemboi seems like a really humble guy, funny I missed that somewhere between the last 100 meter celebration...which I said before I can understand that....and then the taking the shirt off dancing and flexing. Hmm somewhere in there I guess he was pretty humble.
It's not their fault that they are better or win the race or anything such as hurting someone's feelings..That's not my point at all nor did i say that nor doi think that people's feelings were hurt....wow.....the whole point is you should have some respect for your competitors. "say little when you lose, say less when you win" and obviously hitting him would be frowned upon and would be much more poor sportsmanship than the celebrating...it was just something that would have made it more entertaining to me and i meant it in absolute no seriousness.

Still, he should keep his shirt on. Bolt can get away with antics like that because he's ripped. Kemboi looks like a little chicken man dancing there on the track.
Yeah, the thought that came to mind was, "Thank goodness he's black! At least there's some visible muscle def there." Man, just imagine some pasty white guy, built exactly the same way, taking his shirt off. Ugh!
This steeple final from 2003's Worlds is one of my top10 races of all time and Kemboi made it into a race - he really showcased his ability to change gears but still came up just short. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XtPFTUNn_Vc
I know everyone is making a big deal that he ran out to lane 7 like it would be a lot longer but it's not. I calculated his last 200 split (28.7) by looking at the tape and seeing when he crossed the 200 line on the back straight. Then I added the extra distance for the outside water pit (about 20 meters according to IAAF track specs) and I wanted to add the extra distance that he ran by going out to lane 7 but it was almost nothing. He came over the last barrier 65 meters from the finish in lane 2. Then he veered out to lane 7, which is about 6 meters to the right of lane 2. If you calculate the tangent it's only like 30 or 40 centimeters longer.
If you know you are going to win by a meter or more then you might as well finish in any lane you damn well please.
