What kind of strategy should he apply against another usual front-runners like Rudisha, Som and Lewandowski? i think he must cruise 400m mark in 51 flat or something. If he run in front as usual and run first lap in 49 high or even 50 flat, Rudisha and Lewandowski will anihhilate him because his worst part is between 600 and 800.
How in the hell IAAF put a 1:49high runner in worlds? 1.49.XX doesnt make finals even in HS.

Not convinced that Ellerton was ever really an 800m runner for this level, I always thought he should move up to 1500m, but he would need a better aerobic base. Perhaps with Sullivan, Hood and then Brannen (later Milne too) maybe he thought he couldn't make a team. After Gary Reed and Tadilli, there was always a spot in the 800m.

He's there with the A standard, so he is clearly capable of competing at this level.

Way too long of a season for him. Too bad but great experience. I hope he nmakes the Olympic team next year.
he lost time at the beginning, but he was clearly off form. Too long a season for him, and he looked like he'd lost fitness, given how he faded in the second lap. he still has a bright future and NCAA's should be great again next year with all those 1:44 and 1:45 guys returning.
