Does this mean Bumbalough is going?
It is better to have tried and failed than to have never tried at all. JJK tried and failed, Chris is a punk who has decided to never try at all. Now be honest who is better: JJK or Chris S? I rest my case!

wondering the same thing
Is it more honorable to gimp around the track to a 16-minute 5k or a DNF, or to let Andrew Bumbalough take a shot at it instead?
Didn't the brojos suggest that Tyson Gay give an attempt earlier in the season and Sprint Geezer jumped down their throats about it?
nah, that was a choice between tyson having surgery or going to worlds IIRC
so i guess if CS was going to have surgery geezer would think different
The honorable thing to do is see what 2 weeks of rehab will do, be on the starting line, go out with the leaders for as long as you can and either you win or lose, simple as that.
drug user!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And you're a f'ing idiot if you think the competitive warrior spirit is any different in HJ, 10k, badminton, snooker, poker, whatever.
.
Hilarious. First you compare the warrior spirit of a HJ'r with a 5k/10k runner, and now you are saying that people who play poker, badminton, and billiards are just as much warriors as the distance runner?? Next you will say that doing crosswords takes as much balls and "warrior spirit" as distance running.
Look, I don't deny that in all of the aforementioned activities there is pressure, and work, and mental stress, and competitiveness and all that. But in distance running there is all of that AND.......PAIN. THE REAL, HEART WRENCHING, GUT CHURNING, BALL BUSTING NAUSEATING PAIN OF PHYSICAL EXHAUSTION. None of those other events or games experience an iota of that. And until you do experience that, I guess you will never know what I am talking about.
But I suppose running 20 steps and jumping over a bar onto soft mats while trying to relax is as taxing as digging to the absolute depths of your physical limits for, say 13 minutes to 2 hours. Suuuuure...

Bumbalough has the A standard already, so he should be going.
Sprint Geezer, have you considered the fact that we DO have a 4th person with the 5k A standard that is eligible to go to worlds? His name is Andrew Bumbalough, he and Solinsky train together. Don't you think it would be kind of an jerk thing to do if Solinksy went to worlds, fully knowing he won't make it more than 2 laps around the track? Bumbalough is his friend, and has NEVER been to worlds. It would be a total jerk move for Solinksy to deprive Bumbalough of this opportunity given the circumstances.
Chris is making it hard to root for him between all the DNFs (the fake push off the track included) and now this crazy dns.
It is a very suspect decision...couldn't handle the blood test Chris?
Bum won't make the final!
Elitist much? There's nothing difficult about running around a track for 13 mins to 2 hours, this 'nauseating pain' is all in your head, that's why you're so slow it is because your convinced your 22min 5k is painful. Well guess what it isn't nor is 15 min 5k nor is a 13min 5k nor is a 2:10 marathon, just goes to show how inexperienced you are, making up a sensation that you equate with worth, to prove you are worthy... You should seek immediate mental help.
This 'digging to the absolutes depth of your physical limits' its just a quote from one of your Pre shirts, get real and get a life.
PS quit romanticizing running a 5k or a marathon as the 'pinnacle of human achievement', because it isnt.
PPS Lay off the peyote.
pulled hamstrings don't hurt distance runners enough to pull out of a race. at least by sending bumbi the usa will have another finisher.
Sprint Geezer IS correct. You may not like his tone yet I believe he is correct in his comments
If it were one of our American/Jamaican sprinters (who is not named Jeremy Wariner)or one of the African Runners we would be throwing up the "doping" theory.
We do it "ALL" the time on Letsrun yet when CS gets hurt
he gets a pass (of course he may really be hurt) yet it is
so obvious a "double standard"
I know what you are "really" thinking Sprint Geezer about the double standard here on LR yet you don't want to say it.
A hamstring strain severe enough to prevent an athlete from competing would show on an MRI.
Authorizing a physician to post the MRI in a public forum would dispel suspicion of dropping out to duck drug testing.
If you're already compulsively living your life out on twitter, wouldn't be such a big step.
I really don't follow Solinsky, and I really don't follow the 10,000m, although I enjoy watching the races.
I don't know the trajectories of the various athletes or of Solinsky in particular, I don't know world-leading times or championship times or who did well when and where, I don't know the specifics of how individuals ran in which particular races, etc., so I really don't feel my opinion on Solinsky's "cleanliness" has much value one way or another.
Really, I know enough to know that I have no idea whether he is doping or not. From what I understand he's OK internationally, but nowhere near any WR's or anything like that. I know he's a physical anomaly in the 10,000m as well, but that's about it. And that, plus the coincidental timing of his withdrawal, isn't enough to form a conclusion worth arguing.
I'll leave that to the objective 10,000m experts.
You are perspicacious, WDOWTIN.

(1) why doesn't CS just take the drug test and shut everyone up
(2) if he WAS taking these drugs, don't you think the roid rage would have made him punch merga in the face... oh wait I think he did try to chase him down after the 5K... watch the video again
This is one of the most stupid things I have ever read on LetsRun. Congratulations, that means a lot.
