Tyson Gay DID line up and ran an absolutely horrible prelim.
I suppose Solinsky is going in for surgery later this week?
Of course not.

Of course not.
Like I said, either he's lying, or he's a pu$$y.
Take your pick.
If you think he's a real man, then you have to believe that he is a cheat.
In case you wannabees don't know it, track is an individual sport. You're not only competing against those from other countries, you're competing against your compatriots at nationals.
You compete, you earn a spot, you take your shot. That's how it works.
You do it because you WANT to, because you NEED to. You don't GIVE AWAY something you've worked so hard to earn.
YOU LINE UP. You NEVER know what is going to happen.
I can't stand this, I hope I never ever hear about this guy again.
It's not an invitational, or a circuit meet, it's the damn World Championships, second only to the Olympics.
If you can, YOU GO. YOU START. YOU SHOW WHAT YOU ARE MADE OF. YOU SHOW EVERYBODY, INCLUDING OTHER COMPETITORS, THAT YOU WILL NOT BACK DOWN, YOU WILL NOT DEFEAT YOURSELF, THAT THEY WILL HAVE TO BEAT YOU TO WIN BECAUSE YOU ARE THERE TO COMPETE.
WHAT, THE GUY WHO GOT TO GO BECAUSE HE CAME IN SECOND IN A WEAK COUNTRY DOESN'T GO, BECAUSE HE DOESN'T THINK HE CAN WIN??
THAT IS WHAT THIS IS ALL ABOUT.
YOU EARN A SPOT, YOU DAMN WELL SHOW UP AT THE START LINE.

CS and coach have combined to a tough and wise choice.
The wise choice would have been to sit him out for Pre back in June and let this completely heal. Considering how rarely he races, it was dumb to race him when he was injured. Poor decision making by Chris and Schumacher.
I don't think Solinsky is doping, but they are really asking to be scrutinized with the timing of this.
I can't emphasize how much of a complete idiot you are.
Do you know the ins and outs of Solinksy's injury? Are you a doctor? Do you have extensive experience in sports medicine and therapy? Do you know what it takes to run a 10k at the World Championship level? Have you ever tried to run a 10k at the World Championship level with a strained hamstring? Are you, or have you ever been, an elite, international athlete and raced any distance at that level?
If you answered "no" to any of these questions, (which I'm assuming you answered "no" to most, if not) then you should not be spewing such bullsh** towards Solinsky. The man has, in the past, shown incredible heart and determination and he trains like a dog. So stop insulting him with this garbage when you don't know the whole situation and scenario.
BUMMER
Maybe he needs to try a little less so he doesn't get injured.
One of the tell tale signs of steroid use is the inability to recover from muscle tears. I remember in baseball this being an issue during the "steroid era". My hypothesis is that other PED's or legal performance enhancers increase the healing time for injuries as well. If your body is not trained to run 12:50 but it is artificially doing so thru use of performance enhancers then strains would be more likely. I know that these Nike athletes have the most cutting edge doctors and equipment to enhance their fitness. I'm not saying Chris is dirty in any way because he may be using legal performance enhancers but my hypothesis stands.
Oh and have you ever had to worry about preserving your body so that you did not ruin your chance to qualify for the OLYMPICS the next year? I didn't think so.

Yeah, I have extensive experience in sports medicine and therapy. I know what it takes to run a 10k as hard as you can. I have started 10k runs with a "strained hamstring". Yes, I have competed at a high level.
I don't need any of that to know that he is a piece of garbage. I DON'T CARE IF HE CAN'T WALK WITHOUT LIMPING--GET YOUR A$$ TO THE START LINE.
It should be the team, not him, that makes the decision. It is a COMPETITION. The honor is to COMPETE, NOT TO WIN.
This is why America is dying, because of people like Solinsky, and because of people who support people like Solinsky.
Hey Solinsky, don't let the door hit your a$$ on the way out.
He's not "smart", he's a self-absorbed narcissistic spoiled brat who, although he "may" have some talent, doesn't deserve anything.
He's devaluing the whole thing. He is a black eye on the sport. Giving up a spot shows just how worthless that spot is.
Both Solinsky, and the USA in general, are non-factors. Increasingly, people don't care about the USA or its people. You know why? Garbage like Solinsky. There's a lot more important and visible elements to individual character than just "smarts".
The takeaway? Be smart, don't compete.
Get lost, Solinsky.
I am not a fanboy of Solonski - I root for Jesus Espana.
To say he is pulling out because of drug testing is the stupidest crap I have ever heard.
They drug test year round whether you show up here or not.
If he is afraid of better testing at Worlds he could get off the juice and pass the test.
How is not running at all better than running slow?
How about this for a plan- never run at WC's or the Olympics and you will be a successful runner.
Brilliant!
I guess it's a good move to let the healthy Bumbi race and get that experience if Solinksy can't give an honest effort.
I wish the IAAF would just let all A qualifiers compete at Worlds regardless of limits on nations.
Let all of the best go at it.
Chris is a punk!! I have a whole lot more respect for you Mr. Geezer I have truly enjoyed your posts and couldn't agree more on most all points you made. I always said that if I ever made the oly trials I would be a threat to make the team. I would go out with the leaders and stay there or die (literaly) trying. Don't know where you stand on this Mr. Geezer, but I believe Galen Rupp is the second coming of Pre!
I had horrible shin splints at nationals and STILL LINED UP.
I didn't qualify, I ran horribly but I LINED UP.
Olympics aren't for an entire YEAR.
If he senses some catastrophic injury coming on, he can always stop.
BUT GET YOUR A$$ TO THE START LINE AND COMPETE THE BEST YOU CAN. IF YOU'RE NOT WILLING TO DO THAT, FOR WHATEVER REASON, GET THE F- LOST.
I had brutal ham pain when I started my last workout--but by the end of the workout, it had gotten better. Sometimes you can run THROUGH a ham injury--it is even easier if running a 10k than doing a sprint workout.
IF he is actually injured, that is. Which is highly suspect.
WHEN the F will you naive fanboys wake up and smell the coffee?
F you guys are naive and sheltered. You better hope the USA never has to go into a war where a general draft is required.
"Discretion is the better part of valor" is complete bulll$hit, by the way.
The armed services DO NOT award medals for "discretion", and you will NEVER see "discretion" inscribed in a memorial to fallen heroes.
Solinsky is garbage. He is NOT to be admired, he is NOT to be emulated. He is NOT inspirational. He is NOTHING.
Nobody around the world watching the WC's on TV will even know of his existence.
On the other hand, if he lined up, his would be portrayed as a story of COURAGE, of INDOMITABLE SPIRIT. Instead, he will HAVE no story.
LOSER. IF I KNEW HIM PERSONALLY I'D TELL HIM TO HIS FACE.
, a stellar team of Lagat, Rupp and now Bumbi in the 5. Bumbi is going to get munched!
Ya... but you don't know him personally. So you may want to take it easy on the guy. I mean, he may be a "narcissistic spoiled brat" as you said earlier, but I sure don't know him. And apparently, nor do you. So rather than slander him and throw around insults that you don't know anything about, would it kill you to wish the guy a successful recovery and best of luck for the future and the Olympics in 2012?
"Looking to the future"
There IS no future when WC's or Olympics are on. There is only NOW.
He could be dead by next year, or not make the team for one reason or another.
YOU QUALIFY, YOU START, UNLESS YOU ARE TOLD BY AUTHORITY THAT YOU CANNOT.
And believe me, I KNOW what it is like to run a 10k all-out. For me to run 40 is just like him running 27, maybe even worse.
He's garbage, I hope I never hear of his garbage a$$ again.
There's so many other athletes who are far more meritorious.
Chris who?
GET LOST, I CAN'T EVEN BEAR HEARING YOUR NAME ANYMORE.
What seems strange about all of this is why he couldn't have at least kept an open mind and tried to treat the injury and make it to the start line. All the work has been done and 10k pace isn't as bad on hamstrings as the shorter races.
Hahahahahahahahhaha.
Wow.
