OK, first I'd like to say that I'm a senior in high school and for the past 3 and a half years I've continually overtrained and burnt myself out courtesy of running too hard too often without sufficient recovery. My PR's are 4:29, 9:51, and 15:59. After being injured this summer and nto getting any base in for xc, i had a somewhat disapointing season, I did run 16:07 but I was hoping for more. But I've recently been told by other coaches that I overtrain. So all this month I have decided to get my milage higher than its ever been (i'm closing in on 80 a week) at a slow pace every day.(ex: 1:20-1:50 a day at about 8:00 min pace, sometimes down to 7:30) I think I've heard but am skeptical, that this type of training which I am not accustomed to will prepare me for harder training which I will begin in December for indoor track. I am planning on following Jack Daniels 1500-3000 meter training program (from Daniel's Running Formula) for the season. First, has anyone followed this program and what have the resutls been? Second, is my current training, the LSD i guess you would call it, going to help me? I heard it will build up my legs and help fight off lactic buildup when I train harder, but to be honest, im a little skeptical of this since i've never REALLY planned out a season before. My past 3 yeras have been train really hard all the time. Is my new plan better and will I see better results? Thanks to anyone that can help. I'm very, very, very curious to hear from more experienced runners. Thanks
