What the heck happened to Leer?
What the heck happened to Leer?
Thats got to be the fastest ever mile race on a high school track.
that's what Leer was wondering himself.

I'm going to guess that there have been less than two dozen miles in the US that have had 10 guys under 4. anyone have a definitive list? glanced at tnf news site but only found a few Pre races that were at 10+. i know there was the big indoor race in boston a few years ago, this could hve been one of only a dozen? I imagine there were a few in steve scott's day?
Two dozen? I'd guess its fewer than 7.
Did O'Lionaird race?
Leer had been sick during the week. But felt good enough by friday to give it a go.
A 3 second PR by Jeff See after being out almost the whole Spring was one of the highlights. His kick was unreal.
See also won the Shay mile in under 4 a few weeks ago.
No, O Lionaird didn't race.
Yeah brah because Rupp, Solinsky, Lagat, Teg, Bumbalough, Derrick, or anyone else can't get the job done.....
This had been said in another thread but JMac definitely has the tools to make the Olympic team in either the 5 or the 15. You people are looking at him to objectively 'Meh, a 354 mile. What was he 9th at USAs?"
Anyone that knows JMac also knows he also has the most raw talent of any runner around. He was injured for 4+ months this year, started base training late, and jumped into track with no expectations. Dropping 5+ seconds in a season is huge and all of this hope for the guy comes from finally seeing him healthy. I could realistically see him getting to 3:50 next year, assuming he avoids the injury bug. With that kind of raw speed he can kick with anyone in the 5k and he is a definite darkhorse pick to make the team.
What has JMac done in the 5000 (not rhetorical)?
From what I know he's only run 13:45, according to his Diamond League page at least. I don't know about all the 5000 meter hype, but he sure seems to be rounding about into a solid 1500 runner.
What, so any post that brings up Metcalfe is instantly deleted?? Just pointing out that all of the props for McNamara's success should go to Greg Metcalfe... What's wrong with that?
where are all the trolls from last week that said 3:51 was crap?
I miss them...
P.S. as much as it pains me to say this, Solinksy ran this time in his base phase, I mean the comment to look for him on the team next year is asinine, thats like saying look for Will Leer in the 5K next year... like almost exactly like saying that...
McNamara on the Olympic team next year?
Forget the debate, but please, please let's bet on this.
I bet he doesn't make the team.
What kinda odds you want? One to one? Ten to one? One hundredth to
one?
( the guy has never come through under pressure. Oregon would have a triple crown if he did. )
looked like leer was almost last going into 100 to go. hope he can turn it around. macnamara looked in control the whole way, i don't know about an olympic team, but if he keeps this going, he'll certainly be in the mix

I'll bookmark this for next summer.

Right, because none of the other contenders for those spots can run 3:54.
Fellas, fellas, fellas.....why argue, just stick with this formula for our 2012 team, based on Mr Jeff Atkinson's theory. (But this may apply only to the 1500m, contact Jeff to make sure). Making the Olympic Teams will be, not necessarily in this order...
1) The old established veteran
2) The new guy
3) The surprise
