The problem that I have is that on days when I run a good 8-10 in the morning (6am), I rarely have the opportunity to get back out there in the afternoon. I have a hard time justifying it to my wife, who has had a rough day at home with the kids. I also love my kids, so I want to be around them too. Add work into the mix, and it just gets to be too much.
I want to keep training hard, but I fear that my days of 85 mpw are coming to an end.
Get up 1/2 hour earlier a few days a week, get in 13 or so.
Take the kids out in the baby stroller later in the day. Give your wife a bit of a break while you are at it.
Just wondering if your goal is to race well OR get higher mileage. I found I raced better as a "work and family guy" on less mileage, but focusing on one long run a week and one really hard speed or tempo session a week. The difference between 70 mpw and 90 mpw did not seem to be too big a deal once I got into the family guy role.
