It is clear that Kenenisa is going to lose to both in Daegu, so don't expect to see Kenny at the starting line there. Unless Kenny decides to help the team and aid Merga in his quest for gold, but it not easy to imagine. Kenny has not lost at 10,000 meters, and I am not sure he is willing to risk this streak.
Canova knows that Merga will win gold there. Kenny knows it and Farah will find out soon enough. It sure is going to be fun to watch.

I do not think he is afraid but I have zero confidence that Kenenisa will even be on the line in Daegu.
Bekelo is not afraid of Marge or Fara. But he might not be fit in time. he will strike back in Brussals (10000m)

It comes as no surprise that you'd be particularly interested in that portion of my anatomy, but...It is also no surprise that Kenenisa knows he cannot win in Daegu. The more intelligent among us have known for some time that Kenny's days at the top are over. Kenny will not be able to kick with Merga or Farah. There is no shame in that. He has been a great champion.
Farah hasn't proven ANYTHING in major championships, I will not count him as a favorite over Bekele. If Bekele starts, he will win.

You speak of Kenenisa as if he is immune to the ravages of time and injuries. Kenenisa is not the same runner he was a few years ago. Of course he wasn't afraid then. He was the best distance runner in the world. This is no longer true...
If he's in the race, he's the favorite.
Kenenisa hasn't even run a race this year, and he's still UNDEFEATED FOR LIFE AT 10K! How the hell you guys know that he's a different runner now is beyond me.
That said I can't imagine he's in great shape after fighting off a serious injury for the last year+

Nor was he afraid to take on El G or Lagat in the 5K. Nor the entire Kenyan World XC team in the short and long courses.
Bottom line he was always willing to race. His reign may indeed be over. And it's unlikely he will ever achieve the same dominance. But his legacy is intact.
I think his XC performances - winning short and long races on back-to-back days 5 consecutive years is one of the greatest accomplishments in the history of the sport
Hmm, Imane Merga. I'd like to think he's timing the apex of his year to be at Worlds, but we saw last year where he wanted to be the Diamond League king and I have to wonder if being so active in the Diamond League again this year is going to distract him from doing the right kind of training to give himself a legit chance at Worlds.
If I were Kenny I would quit running the 10k for the rest of my life and keep the reputation of never defeated in the distance over a career. It's okay to lose a 5K once and awhile. He is already legendary but when he quits the 10k undefeated it will take another runner of his caliber, most likely better, to break the streak. With competition being what it is these days, it is possible that legendary unconquered status could last a long while. Why ruin it by not quiting while you're at the top? There is the half- marathon to run, the roads if you you want to make money.
