I'm working on the Diamond League preview. Does candian champ Nate Brannen who has a B qualifier and is the Canadian champ need an A qualifier to go to Korea?

3/10
Canadians require one A standard hit during a full moon, three B standards run on tracks built on loamy soil, eight C standards run with eight minutes rest, and one sub 6:00 beer mile before the qualifying window is closed (5% or more).
In reality: No, Nate Brannen will not go unless he hits an A standard. Criteria:
Right now it looks like Geoff Martinson (two B standards and third at trials) may get to go under the "rising star" criteria.

I guess it depends if he's considered a "rising star" or not.
Given that Nate's been to the Big Show before and he's in his late 20s, he wouldn't qualify as a Rising Star. He'll need an A .. as do Taylor Milne and Geoff Martinson ... and Malindi Elmore and Hillary Stell.

Geoff seems to think he is a rising star. As he has never represented Canada at the big dance I think he is a rising star.
You are correct, I need to hit my A standard to go to Worlds, as does Taylor. Geoff will be selected on the rising star criteria and go with his 2 B standards.
Sorry, let me correct myself. I actually need an A (3:35.00) and a B (3:38.00) standard to go to Daegu. Since I have already hit my B standard twice with my 3:36.75 and 3:36.98 I will still need an A (3:35.00) to be selected to the team. As of now only Geoff Martinson will be selected for the Canada 1500m team since he's run the B standard (3:38.00) twice this season, 3:37.70 and 3:37.56.
The rising star criteria is anyone who has never made a Major Championships team before. There is no age limit with the selection.
Never heard did Nate Brannen get the standard?
Nope. It's a shame that Canada will only be sending their 2nd best 1500m runner, but maybe this will light a fire under Nate's ass for next year.
If I'm right, he'll have to hit Canada's A+ standard next year in order to make the team, an A won't be good enough.
