I'm a Lagat fan, but I was disappointed in his race. Yes, an AR, but a slow-paced race should have been right up his alley. Instead, he gets outkicked. I still think he can medal in Daegu, but gold, no, Farah is on top of his game this year.

Every time I think I can't admire Bernard Lagat more, he proves me wrong. What an amazing runner! I just love to watch him.
"A slowed paced race should have been right up his alley."
Are you retarded? That's the fastest he has ever run. What makes you think the pace was slow?
It has nothing to do with the fact he was born in Kenya and now competes for us, that's not a big deal. What bugs me is that he competed for Kenya for two Olympics and four world championships before deciding to become an American citizen. I won't get over that, sorry.
Eat shit, man. We didn't "import" Bernard Lagat like some commodity to pad our medal counts. He CHOSE to be an American and he's proud to be one. So I will support him and root for him as an American citizen the same way I root for guys like Rupp, Symmonds, Wheating, etc.
And I'm not congratulating myself about anything. I'll congratulate the man who ran 12:53 today, Mr. Bernard Lagat. I'm also a big fan of guys like Kenenisa Bekele and Usain Bolt who are not American. I love watching them win and they are great sportsmen. You have a stick up your ass man.

You dumb fu*k. Its not like he's dodging harder competition in Kenya. He could currently win the Kenyan national 5k.
In addition, what is an American? Somebody of Anglo-Saxon descent? What about French descent? What about Chinese? Where is this line? Should I drive a 4x4 with a bumper sticker that says "farmboys plant it deeper" to be considered a true American"
well get over yourself. stop your crying.
if you move from state A to B are you allowed to compete for state B?
if you move to another country to train, and retain you "citizenship," are you allowed to compete from the country you don't actually live in?

dude, what part of the race was slow?
1,000m - 2:33
2,000m - (2:35)
3,000m - (2:38)
4,000m - (2:40)
5,000m - (2:26)
the pace was brisk and lagat just didn't have it in the stretch. he gave it everything he could. he lost to a guy who is all of a sudden able to run a 53 second quarter. (yeah i'm implying that guy is doped to the gills, he just looks like it is wayyyy too easy)

You don't get it and you come off as retarded. Form your thoughts more carefully.

Dude... Not cool
Well he got two points here:
1. Lagat was Kenyan and even competed for them in the Olympics, became American because there is more money to be earned
2. He had a positive test that was later declared negative

The third and fourth kilometers were slow. They wanted a sub 12:50 race and they were running 13:10 pace for the 3rd k and 13:20 pace for the fourth. The first two laps were perfect 2:34 pace which is 12:50, then they slowed down and lost 10 seconds in the next 2k. Even if you suppose that time will always be made up in the kick they were at least 5 seconds slow from 2-4k. Should've hit the bell at 11:54 and instead it was 11:59.
To those who debate who's better - Lagat or Solinsky or Rupp - keep in mind neither Rupp nor Solinsky have ever beaten Lagat. Never, never, never.
The only Americans who have beaten him since he became an American citizen have been middle distance runners - Webb, Wheating, Lomong, Manzano, and Centrowitz.
What a horrible mindset!
I wish the mods could delete all the racist comments and the doping nonsense. What part of "negative test" don't you understand?
Yes, let's celebrate the success of an AMERICAN and stop crying over Pupp and Solo..Kip consistently delivers, races smart, and is a class act. Congrats on the new A.R.!! We need to stop being so bitter just because the white guys failed to do it again (no matter why they didn't do it) and celebrate a victory for the USA!

Oh my, such meanness! The are rules in this Country. Lagat is an American. That you can't accept this shows a deep lack of understanding of how this America works. You have failed. Get over yourself. Your opinion has zero value.
It was nice to see Farah beat the druggie.
Lagat has been running great times for a very long time, Farah only recently. His improvement is too much, too fast.
Lagat has been tested and never failed a test. Farah hasn't been tested enough to prove he is clean.

The 3rd, 4th, and part of the 5th kilometer. Even the announcers noticed the pace had slowed dramatically because of the pacemaker and they were now running 64s and even a 65 before the last two laps speedup. If the last two laps was 1:53, then the 200 before the last two laps was 33. The time ended up being good but they were on pace for sub-12:50 which hadn't been done for 5 years and I believe that was the plan.
Congrats to Mo and BL on a fine race (by both). Both ran smart with good times - today BL just didn't quite have it. Worlds will be very interesting as it will most likely be slower.
To the two guys that keep posting in today's threads under numerous names - it's getting old. You've both done it for so long that you no longer get the big rise out of people like you used to (sure - a few get wound up as they haven't caught on to you yet - but they will). Time to come up with something fresh.
