As far as promoting American track and field, isn't that Nike/NBC's job? It certainly isn't mine. We all have rights to express our opinions.
It's one thing to express your opinion and quite another to spread rumors, spew derogatory remarks, and just generally drag someone's name through the mud without any basis whatsoever. What are you really trying to accomplish here?
Jacobs was running pbs at age 39 or 40 and had been under suspicion for years. As far as I can tell the only evidence cited Uceny not being "clean" is her appearance and her improvement.
As others have pointed out, her progression has not been dramatic; in fact, her 1500 time is slower than last year and her 800 time has barely improved in 5 years.
She did not come out of nowhere. She finished 4th in the trials in 2008, she was the U.S. indoor champ last year - defeating Rowberry, and she was ranked #3 in the U.S. last year in both the 800 and 1500.
As for her appearance, I certainly can't tell any difference between her and a dozen other top middle distance women.
And one more thing: Why is it Nike or NBC's job to promote track and field? They are publicly owned companies that seek to provide value to their shareholders via their respective businesses. I'm pretty sure track and field is not mentioned in their mission statements. And if you truly understand the ownership of NBC/NBCUniversal Media/Comcast, you are a step ahead of me.
