This race is stacked!
Bekele (2), Farah, Kipchoge, Koech, Lagat, Merga, Mottram, Rotich, Rupp, Solinsky, Tegenkamp all entered so far.
Start scheduled for 4:55 PM EST (20:55 in Monaco)
This is one of the first big European 5k's of the season. Who do you think will take it? Will any one go under 13:00? Will the Americans have a chance at sub 13?
I think Universal Sports will start airing the meet at 2:00 online, for a few dollars.

they will go through 3000m in 7.42 and then it becomes a tactical thingy. 4th kilometer in 2.45 and a last kilometer
in 2.28 for a 12.55 win. Moh Fara beats Marga and Solinskii.

Merga might feel has has something to prove (particularly to himself) after being outkicked the last time.
Perfectly set up for Lagat to win, and I expect him to go for just the win and not show whether he has that 12:48 in him. The Kenyans just came from their nationals remember, so they are likely not completely recovered and might not want to put their best on display before the championships anyway. It wouldn't surprise me if the Kenyans sacrifice one runner to try to draw Lagat out to find out what he really has...and that Lagat is wily enough to not bite until the end.
Solinsky we don't know, but I think there's a reason why he put that Lombardi quote about winning on his twitter. I have no doubt that he's going for the win.

This could be one sweet race. Farah has Mergas number right now. I think Merga and Bekele would want to push it from far enough out that Lagat don't feel so great. I see Solinsky trying to prove too much and stressing out a bit and I see Rupp running like he's in an olympic final and he knows he's a medal contender. And lets face it, this is the quality of an olympic final. If Rupp or Solinsky crack top 3 here that should be huge for their brains. Outside shot that the TEG sits behind and mows down Solinsky down the homestretch for some long overdue revenge, though I admit I have no idea of his current fitness.

You are all high as sh!t... rupp ran about 17 seconds faster than Sol and closed harder than Sol, AND sol's race was paced to hit 13:45ish where Rupps was paced to hit 13:25ish. Sol has not pop anything worth noting this whole outdoor season... plus with his coach's crazy super duper triple secret training, we never know what shape he is in... that, and the complete lack of racing drive me crazy... anyways, here's how i see it

I think you're onto to something here, at least I agree with you. Schumacher's crew hasn't done anything spectacular this year to date (besides bumbi's impressive PRs and Jager coming back somewhat).
Farah and Rupp will be up there and close to the win, but you gotta be thinking the Kenyans will be up there too, they prob will run fast, and train through the next month before worlds.

I dont understand how anyone can think that guys that haven't come near their PR's nor been dominant in tactical races are going to get pwn-nasty in Monaco... i think that we are looking at Schumacher's crew hitting low 13:0X's and Sal's dudes hitting low 12:50s probs under... and that's a fact jack
Its not going to be as fast as people are predicting. I'd say winner goes 12:55 (lagat), with Merga/Farah right behind lagat, solinsky/rupp somewhere around 12:58ish.

I really want to see some fast times run, however I think we might be getting our hope up. With such a stacked field and with so many guys who could take the race, I think no one will be willing to take the lead and push the pace before the final mile, making it into a slow tactical race.
