VA state champion in the mile and XC, Alex Tatu, is going to UVA.
Is it true Kaltenbach is going to UNC too?
Tatu is the AAA Champion, he's not the fastest guy in the state; that honor and the #1 cross country ranking goes to a AA runner from my old HS.
I would assume that you are talking about John Crews because he is certainly the best in the AA and would be considered the best in the state along with Kippy Keino. Why would a guy who shows great potential like Tatu go to UVA? Yes, there academics are good, but come on, there are plently of good schools with much better running programs.
kartlite, your old high school is Rockbridge?? That's pretty cool. John is an awesome runner, but we'll have to see who is the best runner in the state of Virginia when John and Kippy face off at Footlocker South. That's the only time they'll run against each other.
Actually, the Footlocker South meet will be a rematch between Crews and Keino. Crews already topped Keino at the Albemarle Invitational in mid-October which was run on the Panorama Farms course. Crews ran an impressive 15:13, and Keino finished second with a great time of 15:24.
Yeah I graduated from Rockbridge in 2001. I never ran cross country, though my friends tried to get me to; I was just a lazy fool back then, hated running. John and Alex Tatu unfortunately won't be running against each other at states (different divisions), but they'll both be running the same course.
I didn't see their previous race, but I heard John just pulled away from Kippy at the third mile. I wish them both the best of luck at Footlocker, I think they will both make Nat's.
where is sarah shelby going? i heard it was down to indiana, msu, and arkansas.
Yes, Kaltenbach is going to North Carolina.
Brent Vaughn from Colorado, second at the state championships, signed with Colorado from what I have read. Also, from what I hear, Illinois' Stephen Pifer (who ran 4:10 last spring in the mile and just won state CC) is 99% sure he will sign with Colorado. Colorado has some money to spend with Slattery and the Torres. Bros. gone next year, so they could suprise and sign some big time names.
