Morgan Uceny is on fire! fidal.it/2011/COD2750/Index.htm
No video unfortunately.. I've got a friend at the meet updating me. I think Flotrack will probably have race vids
1:58:37 a new PR for Uceny if I'm not mistaken?
When was the last time that an American finished fifth among Americans and was still under 2:00 (and was not male). Moreover, two more were less than half a second over 2 (including the not-too-well-known Kampf).
Think Uceny can better her SB of 4:05?

C'mon Brie :(
She is in fine shape. I hope she keeps racing because she will continue to have success. Her sub 4 is around the corner and if she just runs hard and doesnt stress about it she will have many of them the rest of the season.
Huge comeback for Schmidt this season. Near-PR and she's pusing 30.
Is the start/finish line in the right place at this track?
Hey, Me Again. Any word on the Men's 800. According to schedule it was supposed to precede the Women's 800.

Up to now Morgan has just been racing 1500s, just pushing hard the last 300m or so to win. There is no way you can consistently beat sub-4 runners and not be a sub-4 runner yourself. Morgan is kind of like Nancy Langat, who seems to never shoot for times.
I was on the fence about Morgan's medal capabilites in Daegu, becasue I was not sure she ould run any type of race, but running a low 1:58 had made me a believer. There are a lot of good women 1500m runners who are not looking so great right now, but you can not count out athletes like Jamal and Langat who have proved themselves over and over again when it really counts. However, I can't think of 3 women who could beat Morgan in a championship-type race. Keep in mind that the WC 1500m final will be very similar to races Morgan has been winning.
Why couldn't they just have had this race in the USA? What's wrong with USATF, etc. that track meets seem to shut down in the USA in July? Athletes shouldn't have to go to Europe to get into quality races - this race shows that there is depth amongst Americans, so why don't these meets move to the USA where the competition is just as good as elsewhere (Africans excepted) and money doesn't have to be wasted supporting foreign junkets.

they're already in europe... for most of these runners it would be a huge ordeal to go back to the US for low-key meets between the diamond leagues

And it's not like there were no decent 800 runners in the field. Vessey, Schmidt, and Gall finished 2nd, 3rd, and 5th in the U.S. Champs.
Alysia Johnson wasn't even in the field so add one more sub-2:00 (that would be pretty much a given regardless of where she finished in this pack). All that is needed is Katie Erdman (Waits) to come back. Her knee seems to have ended her career which is a real bummer because she was easily a sub-4;00 level 1500-meter talent.
Morgan has made steady progress in training and racing since high school in Illinois and college days at Cornell. Follow her racing history and you don't see any crazy jumps in her times. Just the kind of incremental drops that come with years of injury free, hard work. Anyone that knows Morgan KNOWS there is a 0% chance she is doping. Don't listen to the haters Morgan!
Morgan is from Plymouth, Indiana not Illinois.

Alan Webb 2007 all over again, bank on it now.
You're absolutely right- just like Webb 2007, she's putting together one of the finest seasons ever by an American middle distance runner.
Another very impressive race.
