Anyone have an idea of what is going on at Yale? The men show up in a couple of weeks. Are they scrambling? Losing a coach mid-July certainly is not ideal, but one would think we should hear something this week.
Well, Shoehalter is listed as the men's XC coach on the Yale website. Amy Gosztyla, formerly a Harvard asst. coach, is the new women's XC coach, as announced last week:

Harvard recruits are in. Adam Cotton is listed on the XC roster, but it doesn't necessarily mean he'll run (in previous years, mid-distance recruits have been included on the XC roster to be included in practice but did not necessarily compete).

Cornell's actually bringing in another set of twins: Emily and Katie Woodford, from Oxford (NY) Academy. But they're sprint/long sprint/jump types, not cross.
Not sure about the increased number of twin recruits. May just be a random blip, or it may represent heightened "one-stop recruiting" efficiency, as the Ivies' quest for newbs gets more and more intense.
Also thanks, C/M, for the Harvard info. That's some recruiting class! Yet, with its name recognition (nationally and internationally), Harvard never surprises me when it pulls in great kids.

I just hope they have a smooth transition from high school to college... :-\
I heard from a source very close to the team that Princeton Men have been tirelessly practicing and perfecting their can-jam skills at altitude this summer. The team expects when it returns to sea level to be in the hunt for a national championship in the can-jam discipline at the IM national championships in the fall. I am not sure how this will translate to success in cross country, but for now all we can do is speculate...

It's not clear when/whether the Cornell women (who are under new management) will "officially" post their recruits. I'll go ahead and list the xc/distance folks who show up on Dyestat--yes, I'm sure this list is incomplete ("y" is a mile time, "m" a 1500 or 3000 time; everything else is 1600/3200):
Clifford, Abigail (Perry, OH)
5:02 11:21
Collard, Marianne (Crystal Lake Central, IL)
4:58
Dowe, Corey (Coe Brown- Northwood Academy, NH)
5:04 11:03
Driscoll, Christine (Geneva, NY)
4:36m 9:56m
Johnson, Anna (Great Oak, CA)
5:01 10:37
Johnson, Katie (Great Oak, CA)
5:05y 10:39
Williams, Sydney (Susquehanna Valley, NY)
4:39m 10:06m
Recruits are now listed at Cornell's website:
http://cornellbigred.com/news/2011/8/15/WTRACK_0815112134.aspxThere are several updates to the recruits' marks that were listed on DyeStat, but none (that I could see) for the people listed above--just improved sprint times, etc.
An added 800/1500 recruit (2:11/4:32) appears on the official list; but no cross credentials are given for her, so the above probably represents their new crew of actual distance runners.
And here's Cornell's women's cross roster for the fall:
http://cornellbigred.com/roster.aspx?path=wcross&Kudos to them for getting that posted, though I'd guess there will be multiple additions/deletions once practices begin. At present the roster includes 17 frosh, 50+ runners total.

I finally found something on UKA's power-of-10 site. (Terrific site, by the way.) Within the past year, looks like 59+ for 400, 18:00/5k, and 40min/10k, but the latter two may have been on the road.

Kyle Merber's back! He's been training this past summer up in Maine with teammate Mark Feigen, Maine’s Riley Masters, Stanford’s Chris Derrick and Binghamton’s Erik van Ingen, and he's looking forward to competing this year.
