Rupp WON'T outkick or outrace Lagat, Bekele, Farah, Gebremeskel, Kipchoge, or Koech.

He outkicked Merga and Alamirew, who have outkicked most of the above, so why not.. Bekele won't do World's, cos he won't be able to beat Farah, he has too much to lose.
Merga and Alamirew are not sharp yet. KB will smoke them all
and Galan Rup is lucky if he advances to the final (I hope he does).
Come on now. He went 13:06. Not 12:56.
I'd like to see him mix it up in the final, but until Rupp shows sub-12:55 (or at least clear immediate potential for that) there is no reason to think he has a chance at a medal this time out.
One second faster per lap makes that kick a lot harder, kids.
HE beat Merga, WHo has run 12:53. IF its easier to kick off of that slow pace, then its easier for Merga too surely.
Rupp is consistently improving and I think will peak for worlds. What happens on the day is another thing but he has every chance of a medal. His training is going to take a huge confidence boost now.
The Africans don't take the Euro circuit seriously. They lounge around, socialize, and drink in the hotel lobby, and party all night. Come worlds, the game changes, it's all business and blood revenge for them.
Not sure if he can medal in the 5k, I do however believe he can medal in the 10k
Rupp totally has a legitimate chance at pulling a medal at worlds.
Haters gonna hate, Rupp's gonna run (and medal).
All I know is that Rupp, Farah, Lagat and Solinsky and the rest of the ethiopians and kenyans better pray king kenny doesn't come back fit and ready to rumble because if he does, he'll smoke every last one of them with a close race against lagat again and farah for third in the 5k.
Ok, I'll stop. But only because you asked.

Excellent point because the WC and Olympic 5k typically are run at sub-12:55 pace.
As Rupp said in an interview after the race, his training with Farah is giving him tons of confidence. He knows if he can stay even close to him he is right there with the best in the World. Rupp last year would have folded when Merga tried to hold him off, this year Rupp pwned him hard.
Are people actually saying that? 5000, not likely. I see him getting the Bob Kennedy standard of around 6th place which would be phenomenal coming back from the 10. The 10 is where I think he can medal in the right race.

What was Teg´s PB when he almost medalled in the WC a few years ago. Wasn´t it something like 13,04?
Is Farah just doing the 5k at worlds?

Huh? I guess they don't care about winning or making $$$ on the circuit.
Yes, the Africans never manage to win races on the European circuit.
I don't think Rupp has a legitimate chance of medalling in the 5k IF he doubles. USA's proved that.
If he dropped the 10k I think he has a legitimate shot at a 5k medal. But since he has a better chance at a 10k than a 5k medal I think he will still go for the double, which makes his chances for medalling in the 5k very small.

You might be the first person to have actually read the OP's request.
Rupp has a "chance" to win the 5k just as everyone entered in the race has a "chance."
Does he have a legitimate chance of being top three? No. He was third in his own country. That means he has no legitmate chance.
He beat effing Merga in a tactical race, he can beat anybody in the field minus Bekele.
