I don't have sound. Can anyone fill me in on why the 200 is delayed?

I love getting the American results first, but by now I am needing the full deal to put it in perspective. Congrats to Matthew on the A standard, BTW.
Timing system busted.
They've help up the 200m.
Laalou won - 3:32+
Lagat 3rd, right around 3:33 flat.
tons of guys between 3:33 low and 3:34 high.
No sound for me either...why isn't the 200 happening?

MY GOD, YOU PEOPLE ARE CHEERING ABOUT PEOPLE WHO ARE 15 METERS BEHIND THE WINNERS. AMERICANS ALL RUN LIKE PUSSIES. THEY NEVER PUT THEMSELVES IN THE RACE, CUZ THEY EITHER SUCK OR ARE SCARED.
Yeah, you're right. We should all just turn the computers off and concede victory. In fact, why are these guys even racing? They're not even "close" in your eyes right. Just let the top 2-3 in the world run every race. It'll be a lot of fun to watch.

10 OLMEDO Manuel ESP 17 MAY 1983 5 3:34.44 PB
11 CENTROWITZ Matt USA 18 OCT 1989 2 3:34.69 PB
All of Matt's overzealous fanboys should take note that Centrowitz did NOT have the same kick in a 3:34 race as he did in a 3:47 race.
**Newsflash**
Centro just PR'd by 2 seconds and 4 Americans went under the A-standard and there are still people that think they ran poorly.
Why is being negative so attractive to you people? Is it just because of the pure lack of self-fulfillment in your own lives? Please grow up a little and stop being a jealous little 14-yr old girl who's friend flirted with the boy she's crushin' on.
All of Matt's detractors will note that he finished only three tenths of a second behind Wheating in a world class time.
Doesn't seem too flukey now that he could beat him at USATF.
Kind of seems like they are a good, competetive match-up.
And if Wheating led at a world class pace at USATF, he would have been swallowed up and still finished no better than 4th.
Damn that was a close race 2-11. Im sure Centros not feeling too bad for finishing 1.65 seconds behind what I presume is the "good Kiprop." Im impressed with Manzano, 6th is not great but in the mix nonetheless in a very good field.
Yes he had a nice race but a fast pace runs the kick out of him. That was the point. I'm not being negative here, just honestly assessing things. If he had the same kick he would have won this race too but he did not kick because he was barely hanging on. 11th place grats.
Matt ran in lane 2 and sometimes in lane 3. He would have run 3:33 if he had stuck to the rail in a smaller race.
This kid is going sub 3:30 before its all set and done. Read it here first.

considering only 17 people have ever done this, thats quite a stretch.
How fast had El Gerrouj run by the time he was 22? Lagat? Ngeny?
Take a look at each lap time and evaluate.
I agree, for Matt, this race was all about getting under 3:38 for his B standard. This was a very large field and Matt did well in his first international experience in two years. Will he run faster? Will he have a kick when the purpose of the race is placing, rather than time? You betcha.

I swear some people have never watched a major international race before. Some comments on Shalane being dominated when she ran smart and moved up during the race to finish in the top 5 in a very short distance for her. The women always end up very spread out and many of the Africans just hang on the the lead as long as possible. That was a very typical summer euro women's 5k. Certainly the Americans aren't going to win this event but they are competitive.
14:45 is a very good time, it is probably amoung the top-5 times ever run by an Amercian women. However, like some of the other posters said, I would not have expected to see Shalane so far from the leaders in a 14:35 race. At the end of the day, Shalane ran a good time, but I wished had raced more aggressively.

El G: 3:28.91
Ngeny: 3:28.12 (Note, that is his lifetime PR, run at the age of "21")
Lagat: 3:37
Just goes to show how anything can happen you can max out at 21 (ngeny) or you can be just starting to get things rolling (lagat).

OK, you call yourself a track coach but think about it. Did you watch the race? Shalane was probably in 13th or so going through 1600m and she was having difficulty handling the quick early pace. She finished 4th!!! So she had the choice of being one of the many ahead of her that went out at a pace they weren't ready for and then take the hard fade, OR she could work with where she's at right now with her training and do her best to see herself through 12.5 tough laps. I'd guess that later in the season when she's a bit more sharp she'll be able to handle a faster early pace like that, and close off it. For now, i thought she ran a Very commendable race. Just my .02
There were no great performances from the Americans, which I have seen happen before with the first European meet.
this should have been where peoples expectations were. Wheating's 3.30.91 out of the box last year was freakish and expecting Centro to do anything remotely similar is unfair..
This was a very strong field, and a great run by Willis after some pretty patchy results over the last 18 months. This boy keeps getting into form when it actually counts.
