I'm a senior in high school who mainly runs the 800 and 1600 in track. My first races start in early March with my peak races coming in early May. I just finished a somewhat dissapointing XC season in which i upped mileage over the summer but injured my hip in the middle of the season and raced poorly as a result at the end. My pr's from last track season were 4:52 and 2:06 which I know aren't good but they are much faster than my slow 5k time 18:09. I have heard that I ran my base mileage and long runs to fast this past summer and that may have led to my injury. What I want to know is how exactly should I train for the upcoming track season. Oh by the way my highest mileage during XC was only 45 miles a week. Also keep in mind that I will make sure I am 100% over this hip problem before I start my base for track.
