The reason Centro won was because he was the sharpest. Bottom line. Wheating hasn't raced much at all and it's getting a lot of races under your belt that gives you your kick back. Any experienced runner knows that.
Once a race goes out in f***ing 2:12, everything is out the window. Who trains to run slower than 5k pace for 800 meters, then pick it up to normal race pace and finally blast 300-400 meters? Notice how almost every runner in the field was right there on the final turn?
Totally meaningless race. I can understand not wanting to lead, but if you somehow get stuck with it, what's the problem with running 60s? At 3:45 1500 pace, leading isn't going to take much out of you relative to the field, and you get good positioning anyway. Tactically it makes so much more sense. A lot of these guys are either scared or just stupid. Seriously how the f*** does it go out in 2:12. If you're in the lead you're so scared about it that you need to slow it down THAT much? Give me a break.
