For those us who were present during her days of crushing the competition in the Heps, its been a long time coming for Morgan Uceny and national recognition. Her PR was 2:02 in college - moving up and running 4:02-4:05 seems perfectly reasonable, especially since she has been apparently healthy, has had Anna Pierce to train with, and has been executing her race plan perfectly.
You can watch the NCAA 800 from 2007

and see Alysia Johnson (Montano) employ the same tactics as at USATF this year; frontrunning the whole way for the win. Uceny was soundly beaten but All-American in 6th I think.
Rebekah Noble was the defending champion, Katie Erdman (Waits) almost outleans Montano, Heather Dorniden (Kampf) still hadn't run her famous 600m . . . and Uceny is winning Diamond League races. You could write a nice "where are they now" from this 800m race.

Cragg. She seriously needs to teach him some race tactics
Race tactics? Wasnt he dropped within like the first 2k. Doesnt matter what your tactics are if you cant keep up. Good for him for still being out there though although im not sure how he got into that race.

If he hasn't been paying attention to all of the advice extended to him on letsrun, what makes you think he'd listen to his girlfriend?
Don't forget that Gall was in that race too! Haven't heard anything from Noble, Kampf running but hasn't improved since college, Waits seemed to fizzle after getting married...what a great year that was.
Funny thing about this race was the DUDE in the race was last.
I think Morgan is setting a good path toward being a contender for the medal stand in London. Great progression, for a clean athlete. I will be sure to pick her for a huge PR at Worlds and then on to the podium next year. My $.02.

Nice run by Uceny. The US really has some decent depth in the women's 1500 if everyone can get healthy.
don't mean to complaint, but time are slow this year, no one in Europe or possibly the US last year in major meat slow than 4:01!
Good luck anyway!
Another great MTC athlete ! Awesome job. That's how we do it. USA USA USA USA !
GO CORNELL!
Morgan's secret is to ask herself "WWCD?" (What Would Christin Do?) and then do the exact opposite.
Did Uceny get into Lausanne because she was the US champion? Are the other top women running in Europe? Anna Pierce? Jenny Simpson? Christin W-T? Does Rowbury still have to run an A standard before Daegu?

No
Soon
Yes
Yes
Yes
No, but she will anyway
Last year was the first time I really noticed Morgan Uceny and thought she was improving nicely. After seeing her last lap at this years USA Championships I thought she could possible medal at Worlds. The victory at Lausanne didn't catch me off guard as any women who could run a smooth looking 62.3 last lap like Uceny did at USA is capable of getting a victory on the GP circuit.
WTG and hopefully the best is yet to come for Morgan Uceny this year!
Good to see another L.A. based athlete make it to Worlds ?
It was funny watching Justin Gatlin jog around in last place during the womens 1500.
People who say Morgan Uceny must be doping because of her overly muscular physique have obviously never stood near her.. In photos she she may look huge but in real life she is actually pretty tiny. Toned but tiny
Doubt she's on the juice either way. Great race Morgan!

Hats off to my dad. He just ran a 1:42 Half Marathon and turns 75 in 2 months!
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
Rest in Peace Adrian Lehmann - 2:11 Swiss marathoner. Dies of heart attack.
