Ngugi didn't lead from the start. He and the rest of the field jogged for the first 1000m and then he ran hard for 800m. It was brilliant running but it is a different tactic than taking out hard from the start.Running hard from the gun makes everyone else's tactics easy. The race strings out and people can run. Putting a hard move in the middle is much harder to deal. Some people respond to the move. Others don't and you can get a bit of traffic jam
