Are you even a runner? Would you expect a distance runner to walk-jog on an injury to a 40 minute 10,000? Of course you wouldn't.
Gay is one of the most focused athletes in the sport, has managed his career extremely well and come up big at both the Olympics and WCs, running huge PRs when it counts. Obviously his goal for the year was Daegu. If he says he can't run on it, he cant run on it. Thinking he should walk 100 meters in 60 seconds reflects what kind of person you are.
At least he started the event, which is more than we can say for Solinsky in the 10,000 and Wheating in the 800. They aren't injured, but just can't make up their minds and act professionally. Now THAT is bad for the sport.
