are you kiddin me
Hey 5miler, I was just wondering what you were thinking when you wrote "are you kiddin' me." Was that in regards to the top 10 individuals or the top ten teams or both?
Did you not see the results from Region IV Concordia stuck it to Southwestern. I think that Southwestern is deffinately a top ten team. Also Eastern Oregon will probably not finish 2nd. Mid America Naz has beaten CMC the last 2 meets, confrence by 10ish. Granted B. Tighe comes back, what is the word on that(?), Minot, MNU, CMC, BHS, EOU for top 5 in order.
1) Boit
2) Newell
3) Tighe (what is the word?)
4)Grover? from Taylor that has beaten Ngure several times
5)Ngure
After that look for maybe some MNU guys, the guy from McKendree is really good (possibly top 5), Atem Mabior(sp), Fey from Dana is good, maybe Crowell, Schmeidiberg, and of course look for Wheatley, and a guy who has been looking damn good is Ray Tayor from William Jewell who has been suffering from some injury (ab strain or something from what I hear) and could if healthy make a good run at top ten along with all of these guys. It is just too hard to make an ordered list when so many guys are good enough to make top 10. Sorry for the lack of proper sentence structure
Yeah Eastern Oregon might finish #1, they staright upbrought to the regional race. They have 7 solod guys now instead of 5 like they used to. If Minot does not have Brad Tighe then EO may win it all. I think they are a lock for the top three for sure if not the win. It's gonna be a race.
Crowl of EO may be able to peek into the top 10 with his recent performance. He ran quite well. Clancy had an off day but Crowl beat him fairly good. Look for these 2 guys to reach the top ten if they have good days.
Just my 2 cents
You should call yourself Region 1 represent with that kind of talk but that is cool with me. It seems the nation is not giving too much repect to this region. UBC is now a quality top 10, if not top 5. This squad waits till the end of the year before they run their full varsity, similar to Stanford. With the right peaking UBC and EO could make some waves at the top at nationals.
Respect??? Give me a freakin' break; region I is overrated. And apparently West Coast doesn't "Represent" in regard to spelling. Eastern Oregon won't get higher than 4th because they suck. And so do you. Good luck to two EO guys getting top ten, talk about a joke. And UBC top ten maybe top 5. Seriously. I think we will see at Nationals. Oh yeah good luck to Warner Pacific on getting higher than top 20 with their great 1-2 punch. Oh wait they don't have one, considering the minute and a half gap between their first two runners at the Region one meet. Have fun west coast teams at nationals with both hands around your neck!
Runandfrolic,
What's with the negative attitude? It really sounds like you have some issues you need to get straightened out. Why don't you go see a counselor before nationals. I'm sure you have one on campus and it's free with your tuition, so go make an appointment.
If you think that finishing fourth at nationals means a team sucks, well then you must have only run for Life or Lubbock? Top four get trophies and that's what most teams shoot four. Besides that, you don't need two guys in the top ten to finish as high as fourth. You don't even need to AA, although it helps. You need a good tight pack...which is what EOU has.
With that said, how the hell can anyone make predictions for the top 10 in NAIA? These teams rarely run against each other. You people are making predictions against EOU, Mid-American, Cumberland, or Minot State when you've probably seen no more than three of these teams run against each other. You say that team sucks and this team sucks, but have you ever even seen them race, no anything about their training, or who they have? You're just so frickin' clueless when you start making such claims. Just quit making idol threats and predictions and just wait for nationals. Then, when some team runs bad you can get on here and pretend like you knew it was coming because you think you have some clue about running. You are the same people who bash Nike Oregon Project, Farm Team, and WCAP. Those are programs where people are taking risks. You're too dumb and too afraid to take such risks so you just bag on those who do.
Runandfrolic, you have no clue.
Damn you know Runandfrolic you got me. I have no clue what I am talking about. Anger management may be something you may want to look into. What I was talking about and I think the same for WestCoast is that everyone back east always ranks their guys in top tens for teams and individuals. The fact of the matter is NO thought is ever given to us guys out west. Last year region 1 had four teams at nationals and placed 4,6,7 and 10. I think this is pretty good considering how much these teams suck to you as well as how overrated region 1 is. Guiness says it best when he says a pack is what wins it. UBC and EO have this. Clancy as an individual took 3rd in the 3000i and 1500o. This is the strength of Warner Pacific. They have a solid front runner and a group that can finsh in the top 50. If this team (who is BTW in only their third year, congrats to them, little money and smaller school), can pull it together then they may be a top 15 team. The rankings have put them their all year. UBC is a strong tema that has been ranked as high as 7th. They pulled it together at Regionals and ran quite well against a team that may win it all. Next time you post why don't you state some facts and take some Xanax before you post. Anger gets you nowhere.
To all the crappy teams in Region 1, good luck in two weeks.

Just thought I'd point out two things wrong with your post that I just realized. Crowl is from EO whereas Clancy is from Warner. Also Warenr's 1-2 gap was 47 seconds instead of the minute and a half you claimed. I think you refering to their #4 runner who ended up finishing as their #3 guy because the #3 guy was injured. Their 1-4 gap was 1:40 not their 1-2 gap.
Just thought I'd point out your misunformed mistakes.
Respect should be paid to the region 1 teams for sure. I don't think EOU will win it, but top 5 most definitely. Probably 3rd or 4th. Look out for UBC, they are on a major upswing. Their #1 runner from all the other races this year had an off day and ended up their 4th man. This team has no true leader, but they have 4 runners who can be between 25th and 50th at nationals...with a good run from one of their 5,6 or 7th runners look out. 1-5 spread was about 48 secs. 1-7 about 1:20. Also, put Clancy, McGladrey and Crowl as definite AA and i wouldn't be surprised to see clancy way up there at nats.
All these gaps are great, but I think attention should be brought to Aquinas who ran at Kenosha about a month ago and had a gap of 36 secs for their 1-5.(25:59-26:35)Their past few races have been within 40 secs as well. They could be a major sleeper team next weekend.
You say that EOU will get 3rd or 4th, so by your standards they are even overrated. And Guiness take a freakin' English class. Region I and II teams are perennially top 10 ranked teams who, save a few exceptions, end up finishing lower than everybody's, raters included, expectations. So good luck in Kenosha, I guarantee that you will find out, especially with cold weather that the meet is due for, that California teams will find out that the midwest and eastern teams are underrated. After Nov. 23 I suppose this will be a moot point though. We will see.
If you're going to advise people to take English class, you might do well to sign yourself up as well. Can you spell "run-on sentence"? And "West Coast" should be capitalized.
My prediction is that Josphat Boit will win the whole thing by 10 or more seconds. Followed by Newell from Black Hills State.
As for teams i don't think Minot will win without Tighe, and i don't think he is running. So my prediction to win would be Eastern Oregon.
I have raced Boit and have seen him many times, he WILL win the race guaranteed. I dare anyone to run with him.
NEWS FLASH!!!
Brad Tighe is running and i would bet he has his eye on that national team title and individual award as well. Newell will be nowhere near that high, he is running good, but not that good. ngure worked his ass in that indoor 5k last year and newell evaded everyone by running the marathon instead of facing the real deal competition in the 10k or 5k in kansas. pussy if you ask me. especially since he was 4th the year before in the 10k and 4th in the indoor 5k. newell will choke like he knew he would have in kansas against real competition. wheatley will be up there. he always looks like shit in track but some how pulls it together for cross. taylor guy is good. the guy from park looks tough and runs a good mile/1500 which will help. mike tighe will peak well as he usually does for big meets. brady of obu will also be up there as will the eastern oregon two-some.
wow for one thing Newell ran the marathon last year 3 weeks after having surgury on lung(3rd place). I think it was a wise thing because he knew he didnt have the track work to run the 5 or 10. DOn't mouth off if you have never beat him. He trains hard, and is a good guy. As for the title, don't give it away. There are a few guys waiting in the wings.
Where did you get the info on B.Tighe? I must have missed the "news flash". I havent heard anything...and also, Newell is no pussy. I have raced him a lot and he is not. He is one of the best competitors and has never been cocky one bit that I know of. I believe he knew he wasnt in shape for the outdoor 5k or 10k because he had an air pocket in his lung/chest cavity for a large portion of outdoor and was quite sick, so he missed quite a bit of training. He probably figured his best luck was in the marathon...but that is just my guess. What taylor guy are you talking about? I agree with wheatley..and also with M.Tighe, his last year in cross...he will be giving it his all. I cant wait to see how it all comes out in about two weeks. See ya there boys!
