Well, sounds about right, 3 Kenyans demolishing the field, no one else went with them.
Sammy, man, did he really think he was going to win a kicker's race? He should have forced the pace from the gun.

They did run 28.07, I know the three guys at the front are capable of running quicker but I would hardly call that a kickers race.
Pretty quick running for a Championship race.
14.05 at 5k so it wasn't a significantly quicker 2nd half, although the last few laps were quicker.
Grabbing these as they go by:
Korir 28:07
Chelanga 28:12
Sambu 28:19
Derrick 28:26
Riley 28:27
Puskedra 28:33
Very nice race by Korir, just broke Sammy and Sambu, who also ran great races. Derrick continues to impress, as does Riley, and it's nice to see Puskedra rounding back into form after a rough sophomore year. Excellent race this year!
Speed hurts, sustained speed kills
Congrats to Keith Gerrard of new mexico! 7th place in that stacked of a field is very impressive.
I wish they would have showed the chasers a little more especially at the finish. The guys getting lapped looked like D3 runners.
WTF happened to O'Lionaird?!
9 of top 11 came from the west regional if I added right. They need to change the mix for the two regions to make this more equitable.
So will Shadrack Kipchirchir be the white sheep of the group when the Kenyans get together for some ugali after the meet?

You added right. The West finished 2-11, then two East guys, and another West guy. The other two West guys blew up and still didn't finish last.
Amazing.
3-11, obviously.

So lets look at EVERY event for both men and women, and see if this relationship holds! Very doubtful. The aim is to give equitable opportunities to compete - same reason that Descending order has been replaced. Sometimes you idiots have such a narrow-minded perspective. The west is better in some events but by no means all.
The Score in the Mens 10000 was
East 18
West 21
It looks like a pretty evenly divided event to me.
Track Nationals has been won with as few as 4 athletes. Please do not act like it has anything to do with depth.
Congrats to Jeff Schirmer SR of Southern Illinois! 9th place in that stacked of a field is very impressive.
For those that know the whole story about Jeff which makes his finish even more amazing!
If you can't hang with the hangers get out of the closet!
I was shocked at how well Puskedra ran. Everyone has him pegged as a Cross Country runner, with no talent for the track, yet he finished right behind the top two American born runners (Derrick and Riley) and scored bonus points for Oregon.
What is the rest of the story?
11 Elliott " MF " Heath SR Stanford 29:20.06...Ouch!
