New York is shaping up to be a great field:
Gay 9.79
Mullings 9.80
Carter 9.92
Bledman 9.93
Frater 9.94
Ashmeade 9.96
Padgett 9.99
all under 10.0 THIS SEASON, then Thompson at 10.01
Holy crap, that would be a totally impressive lineup if those were all LIFETIME BESTS--in fact, only 3 of them are.
The IAAF site also said that Rodgers would be there, but his name does not appear in the start list. I hope he does run, he seems like a friendly sort of chap.
Hats off to Gay, again. He doesn't need to get into such a deep field so early in the season--my hope is that he's doing it for the US fans, my guess is that he essentially knows that he can win.
If I were him--seriously--I would run, but I would consider not going all-out--i.e. not going for the win. I don't know how much money is on the line for the winner, but I'd play some cat-and-mouse if I could afford it, keeping an eye on the big prize, and on the big matchups.
But knowing him, he'll go fast and hard.
