Seems like one thing that's being largely ignored in comparisons of German's and Lukas's races is that German ran 4 flat for 1600 about three hours before his 8:34. That's got to have added some time to his 3200--a few seconds, maybe? These two guys' talent levels seem very similar; maybe we'll get to find out which is the better runner, rather than which was better in high school, when they actually race each other (if German's career stays alive).
Pippen is correct when he said that Lebron is the greatest ever.

Germnas 8:34 3200 from the Cali state meet wasn't the national 2 mile record. He ran 8:34 for 2 miles at Nike Outdoor...fresh.
German ran a 4:00 1600 and 8:34 3200 at the California State Meet. A week later he ran 8:34 for 2 miles at Nike Outdoor Nationals. So he was consistent, though Lukas was still faster.
In my opinion German is more talented, one of the most talented in the world, but injury prone and has not had that great of training.
Lukas is very talented, one of the most talented in the country. He has had world class coaching for several years, and once he transitions fully into running will give him a significant improvement, provided it doesn't injure him. The training at a young age should pay off similarly to Galen Rupp, though Lukas started at a younger age and is likely more talented, so he'll be even better.
hes got nothing on jim ryun as a high schooler
didn't LV graduate from HS before he ran this race. If so, he's no longer a high schooler...

Where to start with ths one...
It doesn't matter. You get a time period after the actual graduation date to complete the season. Some graduations are actually before the state meet. So this doesn't count? All the sophomores are now juniors?
Also, the national outdoor meet still counts for the previous school year as well.
I hope you were just joking.

I'm pretty sure Fernandez, Webb, and Rupp all graduated before setting HSRs.
