Dude, that would be the best US running news this year.

I think Rupp has done more than enough for people to get off his back.
despite the overall downhill, the hills of Central Park say that the 60:30 was at least as hard as a flat half marathon course. Has he been doing the 10k pace work for the past two months? I give him a very good shot at 27:02 but of course he could also blow up by sticking with a sub 26:50 pace group and run closer to 27:20. 26:59.60 is tough.
Looking forward to the Ruppture!
Seriously, glad to see an American and Rupp in particular step up to some tough international competition. It was just embarrassing not to have a serious American in a top-level 10,000 in "Track Town USA."
I just wish Al Sal wouldn't go on about the allergy crap. Just pull Rupp at the last minute if you have to, but don't go on in the press about it.

props to the local reporter/writer for getting rupp's pr wrong in the article...
True that, for knowing that Solinsky went sub 27, you would think he would know that Rupp went 27:10 in the same race...
he also could have used wikipedia...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galen_RuppAnyone know if it will be streamed online? i know the saturday races will be televised but it doesnt say where to watch friday night...

Mo Farah has stated he's only running the 5000 in Daegu, so I'm not sure running a fast 10,000 6 days after racing in Europe is worth his while.
His race in Europe was an effortless road 10k win in 29:15. I am sure he would have a chance of breaking the 13 year old British record of 27:18; and Pre would probably be his best opportunity this year. I don't think it would spoil his chances in Daegu, still a long time away.
But perhaps with Chris Thompson already in the 10,000m, who helped Mo become double European Champion, he'll let Chris have a chance to put his name in the record books first.
The fact that Rupp is running tells me two things about his state of mind:
1) He thinks he is in shape and ready to run an AR time.
2) He thinks even maybe on not his best day he will be able to make the US squad at nationals.
I hope he is right about both. Could lead to a very exciting summer for US running.
This meet is going to be legendary. It has loads of talent in different events. Womans 800 amazing, womens 1500 amazing mens two mile amazing, mens 10,000 amazing mens mile amazing. Honestly a track meet this high caliber should be broadcast on tv. I would pay to watch this meet on tv. As for Rupp, if you have ever actually run then you know anything can happen. He could blow away our expectations or the opposite. I hope this race produces something special for many of the competitors. I think multiple events will produce amazing results but thats just a guess. Lets go Pre Classic!
Speaking of watching, any clue on how to watch this event. Will it be broadcast on the internet live.

Los Angeles is outside of the five boroughs. Is LA upstate New York?
Yes.

Thanks!!!
This thread reminds me of one of my dumbest quotes ever which my brother never lets me live down. In referring to my odds of running a sub-4 minute mile I said "It's not the pace that gets me, it's the distance."

This is timeless. I'm going to have to steal it. Frequently.
lets go rupp!!!
I think that 26:50's is certainly possible, considering that (A)it will probably take 26:30-40 to win and (B), he ran 27:10 having to lead most of the last 5,000 last year, and here he won't need to lead at all, just suck along the back like Ritz did in Zurich.
that stands will be empty by the 10k. who wants to watch a bunch of slow guys for 20 something laps. boring.
All of them, this is the distance carnival and this is Eugene.
Rupp might have the problem that running 26:50 pace puts you 10 seconds behind the end of the pack by 5000m. It might end up being a split pack rather than a 'drop-off' pack; it may depend on what the runners are after -- winning or something 'feasible'.
Normally, no one. In Eugene, everybody.
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
