REL,
All the best with the feet pain. Hopefully the shoes do help you. I am far from a shoe snob, but I learned a long time ago that it does not pay in the long run to skimp when it comes to buying good footwear. I am at the point in life that I buy what works and try and keep a few pairs in rotation.
My week:
-46 miles with 15% geezer 'quality' work (sub 6:00 - 7:10s) The slightly lower mileage feels easier.
- Nice little session on Wednesday of 2 sets of 1:00/ 2:00/ 3:00 with 1:00 jog recoveries at perceived effort of
1500M-3Km pace. Would have done three sets, but didn't want to drop my training partner. So it kept me in check. And was probably smart in the long run.
-Ran my first Parkrun on Saturday. Did a seven mile easy run about 13 hours before - so definitely a 'train through' event. Drizzle, water covered, and little slippery on the twisty trails. Had no idea what I was getting into, so I used it as a good up tempo event. I will probably do more of these as it is only 10 minutes from home and it can provide my tempo run with others.
- 4x200 and 1x400 with no watch this evening at the local high school track. Felt like I could have done more, but sometimes that is a good time to stop.
Lastly, the results at the USATF 12Km were seriously crazy strong. Geez! Just looking at those results is enough to keep my ego in check.
Until next week,
