I have been a track fan for nearly 50 years. I remember getting out of class in high school, going to the library and reading Track and Field News. I have kept up on high school, at least in the state of Washington, as well as college and pro runners world wide. I use to tape running shows off the TV, when they actually showed them. I am so amazed when I see these African runners breaking world records. The top US runners were my idols. But... It seems like not a day goes by when another great runner is busted for drug use. And with every bust I lose more interest in watching athletics at the highest level wondering, "Are they running fast because of drugs?" I can never understand how they can break a worlds record and rejoice afterwards when they know they cheated. Running should be the purest sport there is, in principle. I am not the track fan I used to be because of all the cheats. I did not mind placing second to Kevin Castelle age graded wise in a national race. After all, I was amazed at how good he was. I guess have been to naive. Just had to get that off my chest to others than can relate to me. Speaking of my running. Got back from Alaska with temps in the 50's to 60's to 90-100 degrees at home. Feeling dead the last couple of days. Need to drink more water.
