Coyote...maybe they should be characterized as TT. I know I could not go 16:45, maybe 17:30 if I had a good day.
Yeah I used to enjoy backing off about 10 seconds a mile for 12.5 thought it was a good workout but only for a few months then would hit a plateau often followed by injury.
On the TT vs Track Meets / Road Races
There is room for both
TTs let me pick the day/time, location and distance heck even who I race with. Masters meets can be pretty lonely TT like affair. So I hope there is some traction on making TTs a part of Masters Track Comp.
Theoretically you would get the very top runners as well as many more. For instance the World Masters Ranking web site is a great virtual results platform . Just figure out how to make TT legit and it would be even more interesting.
What I do not like about meets road races are the logistics/ travel racing in crappy weather staying in hotels just to race a few runners of equal ability which brings me to my favorite thing about racing
Racing with runners who are at close to the same ability as you now that makes the race exciting. I know of no other sport where competitors sincerely congratulate each other after the race. It is more than just being a good sport it is a connection that transcends the win/lose stuff.
My plans have not changed much just building for when I turn 65 in 14 months
