70.5 run, 34.5 bike last week. Some big hills (two days I climbed 2100 ft in 3.6 miles.)
Thinking of jogging a long slow loop around Wenatchee and East Wenatchee next week, maybe 30 miles, bring water and bars.
Stay healthy and safe!

Charlie...this is for you...cause you are one smart dude and can it. Note there are over 100 references cited at the end of the paper. Also, the author is an independent researcher with no ties to any company who offers does this research completely for free.

If you have been to masters nationals you would have seen Mary Roman in the throws. I coached her son Craig, a 13.7 110 meter hurdler decades ago. Mary died recently from Covid-19. Be safe.

Hey PTF Thanks again.
Three weeks ago I started 4x250mg of ascorbic acid. Have briefly looked at the megadose therapy mentioned for ARDS. Have 200 grams on hand and might up that a bit;)
Melatonin well I would want to do some measurements before supplementing a hormone but I might pick up a emergency supply JIC.
Hemolysis , cell free hemoglobin , ARDS scary stuff.
Igy ARDS SUCKS . However I am hopeful our Intellectual Capital is going to save the day. Vacines, Anti Virals and treatment for ARDS the sooner the better. Mega dose C if symptoms is worth investigating . If this hits mainstream C will be like toilet paper.
Charlie,
Always take my vitamins. Feel fine here, but I am definitely on lock down. I plan to stay that way until the curvature of infections heads south. Also, since no foreseeable competitions, walking and jogging, not stressing the system. Still busy calling my clients, but that has eased and should be complete over the next week or so. Plan to spend the rest of the time weeding my yard and painting a fence. By the time I finish, and get the all-clear signal, I will be effectively retired. Just need to stay healthy.
Best to you, hope to see you at a future track meet.

The WMA Championships in Toronto are cancelled. They have not ruled out postponing until 2021.
It has been quite a chaotic week for me.
Two weeks ago, we were told we would be going 100% remote teaching on Mar. 23. I thought, that's not a big deal since I was already doing 50-75% of my teaching remotely. But then, last Saturday, we were told we had to evacuate our offices by this Friday. So I started getting ready for that by copying my teaching related files from my desktop at office to my laptop at home. Then late Sunday night, we received another notice that the deadline would be Monday instead of Friday. I worked all day yesterday and did as much as I could before leaving my office after 10pm. Today is the first day I am doing all my work from my laptop and I am still getting used to it.
As far as running goes, I have been running on the track of a local junior high school. My gym closed on Wednesday, and the city closed public parks. (I have not checked if bike trails are also closed.) I ran 7 miles from Tuesday to Sunday, with a moderate progression on Friday that I closed with 7:33 for the last mile. The biggest problem, training-wise, is my inability to do certain ancillary exercises that require machines / equipment. I have been improvising some exercises at home. For now, I am just in a maintenance mode.
Dosage above 250mg of C can be toxic and contraindicated without supervision of a medical professional:
Good advice always be careful.
Someday soon we will be able to fine tune / adjust our nutrition and supplements so that our bodies for optimal functioning . Current examples are glood glucose monitors, ketones, pressure, pulse, even 6 lead ekg hooked to your smart phone amazing but just the beginning. All things are pleiotropic . Feedback make adjustments .
BTW I do avoid eating excessive amounts of foods on the high oxalate list... except coffee.
Always concerned when it comes to vitamins and I do have a few goto sites.
Here is one of them:

Similar experience here. We were told we had to evacuate our offices and shut down our research labs on 4 days' notice. I'd been giving my lectures remotely from my office but had never tried doing it at home. My good office computer with a big screen doesn't have a wireless connection and my home has only wireless. Fortunately Best Buy delivered a wireless adapter in 2 days and now I'm fully set up at home. We're on spring break and it won't be until Monday that I discover whether my home Internet is fast/reliable enough to actually give a decent video lecture. But so far, so good.
With no job to go to, I've been running even more than usual although all at a very slow pace, not wanting to stress my immune system. I live in an area of low population density and running on the city streets and bike paths between 5:30 and 7:30 am I see almost no other people. I am also suffering from the lack of a gym to do other kinds of exercise. I've switched over to some exercises with body weight and two sets of small dumbbells that my husband had stashed away. These new exercises have made me very sore, suggesting it's a good idea that I'm doing them.
My dogs love "shelter in place". Loads of face time with their people and more and longer walks than usual. That is one silver lining, I guess.
Charlie,
52.8, not bad for a mid-packer....

Charlie...yeah I'd up the prevention amount of ascorbic acid given the current circumstances...but it's definitely good you are taking what you are taking. Doris Loh...the author of the article recommends just a very small amount of melatonin as a prevention...only .25mg at night. If you are infected, you do a LOT more of both the vitamin C and melatonin. I'd make sure you have the supplies if you need them.
Doris told me personally that if you have adequate ascorbic acid levels, this virus can be a walk in the park...but without adequate levels it can be lethal. Like night and day. They are starting to use vitamin C in a few of the NY hospitals because China had such success with it. It's starting to pop up in mainstream newspapers.
It interesting that both AA and mel are billions of years old and are both vital to life. We can't make our own AA so we need to supplement with it. It's preferable that me make our own melatonin...but the excess of blue light, especially at night, has reduced levels which also go down with age.
All the best...

Mine is only 59.0 back in 1984. I think I am never gonna run 1 sec under my age given I am 60.
Mo Pac,
Dave Bedford reportedly could barely break 60, but set the 10k world record. So I think you are good!

I was offering a counterpoint to the idea that there is no possible downside to pursuing every whiff of a "miracle remedy" to this relatively unknown threat. In an acute (time scale of weeks and months) situation like this, a relatively inexpensive and easily available therapy such as with C seems reasonable, keeping in mind that it is a short-to-mid-term rather than long-term treatment.
The letter posted was quite adamant, I will grant that, but surely there is more data and research on the topic since 1985?
Igy,
52.8 is fast . Sure SCC probably ran under 50 but who else who posts here has a faster 400 PR? Maybe KP.
Did you do a major buildup/effort to achieve this ?
Inspiration anyone?

Charlie, I was a mediocre 440/220 guy on a small college team. I ran mid to high 51s my senior year. In addition to running track I played a lot of intramural and pick-up basketball, and was doing some pretty good weight work, and got out and surfed 3-4 times a week.
