Olde Farte & Other Folks frustrated by the left and/or right lower (soleus) gastroc/calf injuries. After my right side kept me lame for about 4 weeks in April, my left side just cleared up in about 2 1/2 weeks. The Heart Attack Of The Calf therapy definitely works. I highly recommend a few additional treatments ( as you can muster). Do the old fashion heat pad before you walk/jog/walk/jog - rice pads in a microwave are awesome. Do the old fashion ice bag afterward. Get a Gua Sha tool from Amazon - or grab something like it from any household item in the kitchen or shop and use it once daily before or after running. This is in addition to once per week of deep muscle massage therapy. Consider purchasing an Intelitopia battery-operated massage tool. I call it my radar gun. You'll see. Point it at assholes speeding down your 20mph neighborhood for fun. Important to use it around the injured area - so not to aggravate the knot or spot. I was way more diligent this time vs the April injury. Including stopping immediately once the calf got tight during the walk-run-walk-run program... to then go home add therapy, try again the next day. I missed some days. I lost some fitness. But I remained positive and viola! Ran 19:13 for a hilly 5k Bridge Of The Gods road race yesterday with zero calf issues. Embarrassing (for 200 others I reckon) that a 59-year-old wins a 5k. The good thing, these days, is awards ceremonies are getting better, more efficient, and nobody cares anyway if they forget to mention the age of 'that old dude who won'.
Good luck to us all.
