I seldom get a chance to post these days but am still lurking in the background. I note Allen was asking about me a few weeks back nice to be remembered lol. My home logins are banned accidently from LR so I can only post from work or the local library. So here is a bit of an update on things. May 5. My first serious race for over a year. Nail Can Hill Race 11.2 kms with 280 metres of elevation gain, most of that in a 3km stretch on sketchy dirt forest roads. I was far from confident as I had only been running 30 kms a week. The A goal was to get another "age buster" sub 59 mins. The B goal was to break the hour. The C goal was to not look stupid given the lack of training. Got stood on at the start losing a shoe and had to stop and put it back on. I had a great climb. Given I had lost a lot of early ground I spent the whole climb passing. Not being fit I knew I would need to use my god downhill skills to advantage. My split at 5km was 29.50 and the rule of thumb is double that for your finish time. My descending skills were on song and I continued passing all the way to the finish for a good result of 57 mins. The overall winner was a 55-59 guy, handy runner called Steve Moneghetti.
